#favoritedetective #marchmadness Matthew Scudder is my favorite. The people he knows, the cases he solves , the description of the streets of NYC, all interest me.He struggles with the booze as well as the criminals.I have read most but not all of the Scudders , I don‘t want to be done.

somebooksaround This looks like a stellar read! & love the picture!!🙌📚🕵️‍♂️ 2y
Suet624 You‘ve convinced me. 😁 2y

Centique Gorgeous images! I loved this book as a kid 😍 2y

rubyslippersreads @AmyG @Centique As an adult, it's still one of my comfort books. 😊 2y
AmyG I should read this again for #Booked2018 2y
ValerieAndBooks I loved this as a kid — recently read it again as an adult, and my perspective really changed! Still think it‘s a good book! 2y
ValerieAndBooks Another thought.. I think I remember you said that even though you loved it as a kid, your mom didn‘t?? 2y
rubyslippersreads @ValerieAndBooks That's right. 😊 And as an adult, I can see why. It's just a comfort book for me because I loved it so much as a kid. 2y
ValerieAndBooks I know what you mean. Sport and Ole Golly and all that, like old friends. 2y
BookNAround I loved this one and even created my own notebook for a while after I read it. 2y
tpixie I loved it too as a child. It does read differently as an adult. So I wonder does that mean our intentions are different as children? As a child, I found her spying so cool. As an adult, more hurtful. Hmm... @ValerieAndBooks @rubyslippersreads (edited) 2y

batsy @Cathythoughts Haven't read the books, will add them to the list 😁 2y
AlaMich I watched a number of these and while I love KB, they just started to feel so bleak to me that I couldn‘t continue. 2y
Cathythoughts @AlaMich yes they can be bleak. The books are very serious, but I love them. 2y
rohit-sawant I didn't know there was a TV show! I've only read the first book in the series and have been meaning to check out the next. 2y
somebooksaround I didn‘t know this was a show as well!! Great pic! Thanks for sharing!! :D 2y
Cathythoughts @rohit-sawant @josteele there is a show. I‘ve only seen a couple. The books are what I know.... all are good 👍🏻 2y
CarolynM I've never managed to watch a whole episode. They're so downbeat they make me depressed, even Ken can't get me through it! 2y
Cathythoughts @CarolynM well if Ken can‘t do it ...... 🤷‍♀️ 2y

Hag's Nook | John Dickson Carr
post image

Big fan of Dr. Gideon Fell. John Dickson Carr, master of the Locked Room subgenre, introduced the character with Hag's Nook, a great starting point if you're unfamiliar. The last Dr. Fell book I read was The Hollow Man & enjoyed it a lot. It's been praised as the best locked room mystery ever written & you won't be disappointed. His stories not only have ingenious plots but are darkly atmospheric as well.

somebooksaround I‘m not familiar with this series. Added to my tbr for sure!! Thank you for passing on the March Madness! 😃👍 2y
TobeyTheScavengerMonk Never even heard of this guy but it sounds excellent! 2y

rohit-sawant @TobeyTheScavengerMonk I think you'll love it! Looking forward to your thoughts on the book! 2y
LeahBergen This cover is fantastic. I‘ve never read this author but I have one waiting on my shelf (it‘s not in this series, though) 2y
rohit-sawant @LeahBergen I wanted something like a head shot for the prompt, and the covers I have are bland, so stole this awesome one off Google 😁 That book sounds interesting! Stacking. His fascination with historical settings is a common theme in his works. Another amazing stand-alone title of his is The Burning Court. 2y
Suet624 I never realized there was a locked room category. 2y

This was a little difficult, but in the end, I knew I had to choose one of my all-time favorite detectives: Hercule Poirot. Thank you, Agatha Christie 😊💖

#FavoriteDetective is Flavia de Luce. Maybe some might find her irritatingly precocious, but she's ever so loveable 💕

#MarchMadness @josteele

julesG Nice edition. 2y
batsy @julesG Thanks! Feeling sad now that I don't have all of them in my collection, so might just have to take a look at Book Depository... 😅 2y
