Though I‘m halfway through this one, I made the decision to bail on it earlier this morning... I‘m not one who reads to fall asleep but this book but for the last few days, this one has been putting me in a #DeepSleep ... I expected a lot from its enchanting premise and lovely cover... but I can‘t connect with these characters. It‘s not enough fairy tale or enough historical and just seems more like a YA book with style choices that aren‘t for me!

TorieStorieS @Kalalalatja I know!!!! I wanted to love this so much... but the chapters in verse and lackluster characters with problems that could be resolved in a simple conversation all made me give it up in favor of a nightstand TBR stack that threatens to topple every day... 6y

A little spin on one of my favorite tales involving a #deepsleep 👌 I'm mesmerized by how Irving's writing reflects the political and social changes involved in the birth of the nation that is the US. I really recommend reading the original 'Rip Van Winkle'

#septemberdanes I‘d say the big sleep is the ultimate #deepsleep but there is no coming back from that.Love this book and the classic Bogart/Bacall film, can‘t recall if I ever saw the 1970s remake with Robert Mitchum playing Marlowe.

Bookwomble Mitchum's portrayal was his trademark laconic, half- asleep delivery, which I love in other films (Night of the Hunter; Cape Fear), but didn't quite work for me as Marlowe. Rabbit Cake | Annie Hartnett

I am fascinated by sleepwalking... The thought that someone can be in a #deepsleep and still eat, drive a car, and in this case, walk into a deep lake to die, terrifies me 😱 10 year old Elvis Babbitt is left to deal with the sleepwalking death of her mother while also adjusting to her mourning father and sleepeating sister. I bailed on the audio version but gave it a second chance in print and my opinion did improve slightly 🙃

Skyrimir I‘ve done a little sleepwalking through the years, usually if I‘m stressed. Some small, like just going to a different room and sleeping or eating something. Once I cooked (and mega burned) some ramen. That was scary! My house was full of smoke! 6y

zsuzsanna_reads I used to sleepwalk and do things in my sleep, but haven't in a long time. At some point it got so bad and I was so afraid of having an accident, I would hide the key to my bedroom in a different place every night and would write the hiding place on a post it note. If I left the key in the same place every night, I would just fetch it in my sleep and let myself out. 🤣🤣 6y

I loved this book - actually more than The Shining (I went there 😁)
I like The Shining but think it got totally over shadowed by the film, which I don‘t like. I don‘t think Jack Nicholson‘s portrayal of Jack portrays the character as in the book.
Anyway - love the return of Danny in Dr Sleep 🖤

Kalalalatja Haha I really want to read in bed, but my bf isn‘t a fan, so I haven‘t made it work yet. Luckily, I‘m home all day, and a big fan of naps, so I don‘t mind reading in bed during the day 😄😄😄 6y
