Matrix | Lauren Groff

Pickpick

Thanks for giving me the push to read this one @Megabooks !

My first Lauren Groff book. I wasn‘t sure how I was going to feel about a book about nuns. I was raised catholic but am 0% religious. However, I‘m glad it didn‘t focus too much on religion and more about life at the abbey and building it up.

#Booked2022 - book about religion or cult
#FabulousFebruary - Book 1 finished

Megabooks So glad you enjoyed it! 8mo
Cinfhen It‘s a good atmospheric read!!! I wouldn‘t mind if this book advances or even wins the #TOB 8mo

Migrations: A Novel | Charlotte McConaghy

Finished this one last night. I was a bit confused when I started because it seems to be a bit in the future (all animals basically extinct) and I didn‘t realize it. But I can see where she already had ideas in mind for her 2nd book! Thanks to @CBee for recommending for #12Challenge

Controversial question - #pop22 can this count as man made disaster? Otherwise I‘ll use it for author read last year.

#JoyousJanuary #JumpStart22

KarenUK I think you can interpret challenges how you see fit!!! 9mo
RaeLovesToRead If the animals are extinct because of humans then definitely a man-made disaster. I'm planning on reading a book about extinction 😊 9mo
Megabooks I think it could be either. Whatever works best for you! 9mo

CBee You‘re welcome! Hope you still enjoyed it despite some confusion at the start! 😊 9mo
BarbaraBB I‘d say it‘s definitely a man-made disaster. I even felt guilty after reading it 💔 9mo
Cinfhen Yes; I agree….climate change is unfortunately a #ManMadeDisaster 9mo

The Great Alone | Kristin Hannah
post image
Pickpick

Thanks so much to @Read4life for recommending this book to me for my #12Challenge! This was exactly what I needed right now. My first Kristin Hannah book and not my last! What an emotional roller coaster I went on! Her parents made me so upset, especially her dad. I find people who can live on the land so fascinating (why I watch the tv show Alone). I could never do it, but I definitely enjoy reading about it!

Read4life I‘m so glad you enjoyed it. 💙🤓 9mo

Magpiegem @Nessavamusic oh no 😂 well doesn‘t that just show how differently people can experience books. It was my favorite this year! I think I‘m going to do this too. Which book would you recommend? Xx 9mo
Nessavamusic @Magpiegem I loved a lot this year. I‘ll go with this one 9mo

I have seen this making the rounds on Twitter and thought I'd give it a try over here. 12 months to read 12 books recommended by 12 friends. So recommend away. And try it for yourself! I'd love to recommend books to you!
