A gripping story about the accident that almost killed actor Jeremy Renner in 2023. He details what happened and how it‘s affected his life. Jeremy takes a horribly tragic accident and instead of making it about him, he talked about its impact on his family and friends. It was very moving. He‘s candid and gets graphic, so just beware. This was raw and heartfelt, I‘m glad he‘s healed and pulled through the way he has. Book#74 in 2025 ⭐️⭐️⭐️
I am a Jeremy Renner fan and enjoyed hearing from him the story of his near-fatal accident - being crushed by a Snowcat trying to save his nephew from the same fate. It‘s a bit gruesome in places and a bit repetitive in others, but the fact that he lived to tell the tale and came out the other side more positive and grateful, must be a testament to the kind of person he is. A real life superhero for sure!
Runner‘s memoir of “the incident”: the day he was crushed by a 14,000-lb Snowcat — and lived to talk about it. This is repetitive in many places and there‘s no acknowledgment of his extreme privilege that aided his recovery process. But the raw emotion in his voice as he describes the experience is heartbreaking. Warning: the descriptions of his injuries are incredibly gruesome. I literally gasped out loud during chapters 2 and 3. 😬

A journey of rehabilitation, hope & most of all, of love. Way too much of what, essentially, amounted to mental self flagellation for me to give this a solid pick.
Jeremy Renner's memoir 'My Next Breath' is very inspiring. For 45 minutes, he kept himself breathing until help arrived. He does believe he died at some point, but fought his way back. His recovery was intense and terrible at the same time. Yet he pushed through and is now acting and doing his own stunts. He believes that his full recovery will take a lifetime, but still he has hope. 4.5 stars

Having my own chronic pain and chronic health issues made me interested in this book. After reading it, all I have to say is... what a brave, resilient man. He could've come out of his ordeal a bitter person, but instead he came out a better person.
In this memoir, Renner details the incident where he was run over and crushed by his Snowcat. He spends a lot of time at the scene itself; it is gruesome and grim and he struggles to take each breath. I always felt he seemed like a good guy, and this confirmed it for me. I‘m so glad he‘s still with us.

real life superhero Jeremy Renner!
all new respect for him after reading this.
it's very raw and eye opening
This is an #unpopularopinion and I feel terrible about it. Renner‘s accident was horrific and his recovery nothing short of miraculous. This book, however, was so repetitive and Renner‘s insistence that he was responsible for all of the pain, fear, and stress his family experienced witnessing the accident and its aftermath bordered on performative martyrdom. I hope he‘s in therapy for the psychological trauma.
Jeremy Renner takes us through his near-fatal accident in Reno, NV. On January 1, 2023, he was crushed by a 14000-pound snow plow as he saved his nephew from it, nearly dying at his mountain home. From emergency services getting there in the nick of time to his long ordeal as doctors and nurses battled to save his life and help him recover, Renner takes us through the physical scars and the psychological effects of surviving that much trauma.
