pickCollette is a tremendous writer; her descriptions - of a room's layout, of how the sunlight falls upon a street at a particular time of day, of characters' dress, of flowers, of color, of emotions...anything really - are second to none, the perfect counter-argument to those who counsel writers to eschew adjectives and keep their prose spare. This must have been a bear to translate into English, and I'm not surprised that the introduction claims 👇
The_Penniless_Author ...that this is the first time it's been done correctly. As snobbish and superior as the characters can seem at times, the overarching theme - reckoning with the passage of time - is universal and lends them a sympathetic air that makes them relatable all the same. 12mo
