I showed off this book a bit the first day of this challenge but published in 1902, it is my oldest cookbook and it has the most yellowed pages as it was well used by my great-grandmother & grandmother before being packed away for years. It's stained, yellowed & quite worn but I look at it as very well-loved. 💕

I'm recycling-but I lost good light for taking pics tonight so I collaged a few. I love old cool books & old cookbooks.😎The tagged book, published in 1902, was my great-grandmother's cookbook, then my grandmother's, then my aunt's-who gave it to my mom several years ago to give to me. All these women are gone now, but the book makes me feel closer to them. I once made cookies, called 'Rocks' from a handwritten recipe in the back.

And for #TBT & #usedbooks #augustphotochallenge I had to share the ad in the back of my great-grandmother's cookbook for 'The Perfect Woman' which apparently was 'Worth It's Weight In Gold' & chapters like 'The Unfolding of Womanhood' & 'Heredity and How It May Be Overcome' make it 'The Best Book Of The Age' (of course 'Next to the Bible' it says). In 1902 it would set you back $1.75 for cloth binding, $2.50 for Texoderm Morocco Binding ❤️📚

I have them from the early 1900s on & love the history they contain from the frugalness of wartime/Depression to crazy 'womanly' tips to swanky entertaining guides. I buy what appeals & love the well-used/loved ones w/ recipe notes & goodies stuck inside. The top 'Receipt Book' was my great-grandmother's from 1902 & extra special to me ❤️
