Sadie and Max are two contestants on a reality show. Sadie is new to fame but Max has grown up in the limelight under the shadow of his famous dad. They are paired up for a duet and that‘s when sparks start to fly. This story deals with life under constant scrutiny, family and grief.
It was a good read but I didn‘t feel it was ‘Christmasy‘. The book flipped between both Sadie and Max‘s POV. The second half of the book was much more enjoyable.

I love a good fake dating romance trope - but I did not love the way these “country music star“ protagonists were written. The amount of “sweetheart“s and drawl felt forced rather than natural - and I grew up in the South, listening to country music! I loved this writing duo's first book and I'll pick up whatever they write next, but this was a bit of a miss for me.

Not starting out strong for 2023‘s #WinterGames . I really wanted to love this but found the characters pretty one dimensional and the constant misunderstandings annoying. The worst, however, was the southern slang the authors sprinkled in that aren‘t even real things people say in the south….very stereotypical. That being said overall I enjoyed it enough to finish and would give the authors another try. A very generous 🌟🌟🌟#SantasBookshELVES

It was a cute Christmas book - A Hallmark book. No real depth, just a typical Christmas romance with music.

I was feeling so-so about this until their 7000th break up and miscommunication. It‘s NOT okay to be this hot/cold, to literally never let your partner get a word in when they‘re explaining & then run away or be secretive. And then random stuff kept happening that just didn‘t add substance to the story at all because they‘re ✨unhealthy✨

Romances that rely on shitty communication are exhausting. Most of the conflict is because one of the characters won't string 2 sentences together. If that wasn't enough, the CANADIAN authors keep putting Banff at the beginning of each chapter that takes place in their fictional tiny town that is maybe NEAR Banff. Some tiny town near Banff isn't Banff! What a shame because I really enjoyed the Christmas romance from this writing duo last year.

When Starmaker contestants Max and Sadie go viral for a duet where their chemistry is obvious, they have to take this chance to make it in Nashville.

The first and second half of this book felt like two different books. The pacing in the first half was rushed, and I was often frustrated with the inexplicable communication choices the characters made. I enjoyed how everything came together in the ending, and it was a fun Christmas romance.

What am I doing? The question had been nagging at Max Brody all day. Actually, ever since he‘d agreed to join Starmaker‘s country music reality show, making him one of twenty contestants vying for that coveted first place.

I hate the miscommunication trope and this couple miscommunicates and breaks up FOUR TIMES. Also, he warns her about a sketchy dude in the industry and then when he sees them alone, he assumes the worst of her?? And leaves her there alone?? With the man HE warned HER about a year ago?? I‘m sorry but bye, no apology good enough for that

The background story, including the drama, for this Nashville rom-com had potential. Unfortunately, the two MCs were embroiled in the ubiquitous romance trope of miscommunication after miscommunication, and it could have been written without that crutch. I was too frustrated by the trope overuse to fully lift my thumb for this one.

I really don't know how I feel about this book. I listened to the audiobook quickly because I was curious about how it would turn out, but I don't know why I was so entertained considering there wasn't much to the storyline and I didn't care for the characters. I also felt like the important and interesting scenes were left out and then mentioned later. The more I think about the story, I'm reminded of things I didn't like about it.
