Ed Gein was one of the most twisted and disturbed killers in the 20th century. The abuse he endured at home set the violent path he would take, shocking the world with his crimes. TW/CW for this graphic novel.

This is a graphic dramatization of the Ed Gein case – the one that inspired the character of Norman Bates in the book and movie Psycho and partially the character of Buffalo Bill in The Silence of the Lambs. I wasn't familiar with this case before and he was a sick f*ck indeed. I loved the style and illustrations of this book.

Wait, did Psycho come out on my birthday?

What an interesting and disturbing book. We all know who Ed Gein was, and generally his crimes. But this graphic novel is really well researched, and the art is good (and creepy!). Very much like My Friend Dahmer.

I had a review of this in mind but came here and saw that it was nearly identical to @jlhammar ‘s review! 🤣 From the growing up in Wisconsin and knowing the rough outlines of some famous WI murderer named Ed Gein to the learning of this book from @vivastory . 😄 My only review additions would be 1) I liked how they mixed primary source accounts and their own theories in the narrative and 2) maybe a few more “Eww!”s.

Well, that was disturbing! Really well done though. Growing-up in Northern WI I had heard of Ed Gein, but I didn‘t know the half of it. Gripping and well-researched with emotive and haunting artwork. You really get a sense of how the discovery of what Eddie Gein “done” rocked his small Wisconsin community and impacted American culture at large.
Thanks to @vivastory for putting this excellent true crime graphic novel on my radar!

I loved Schechter's Bloodlands collection, so when I saw this true crime gn about Gein written by Schechter, with artwork by Powell, it was an automatic checkout at the library. The book begins with the story behind the highly unusual making of & theatrical release & reception of Hitchcock's Psycho, what would be one of several influential movies that were based on Gein's crimes in one way or another. This book was very informative of Gein's

My current read is sending me down some interesting rabbit holes 😬

Deeply disturbing graphic novel/true crime story of the murderer who inspired Psycho, Texas Chain Saw Massacre & Silence of the Lambs. Very well done and a quick read. 4⭐️ Now onto something fluffy…
