The powerful and emotionally-charged * fantasy series from the author of the Sevenwaters novels continues, as Blackthorn and Grim face haunting secrets and old adversaries... "Feather bright and feather fine, None shall harm this child of mine..." Healer Blackthorn knows all too well the rules of her bond to the fey: seek no vengeance, help any who ask, do only good. But after the recent ordeal she and her companion, Grim, have suffered, she knows she cannot let go of her quest to bring justice to the man who ruined her life. Despite her personal struggles, Blackthorn agrees to help the princess of Dalriada in taking care of a troubled young girl who has recently been brought to court, while Grim is sent to the girl s home at Wolf Glen to aid her wealthy father with a strange task repairing a broken-down house deep in the woods. It doesn t take Grim long to realize that everything in Wolf Glen is not as it seems the place is full of perilous secrets and deadly lies... Back at Winterfalls, the evil touch of Blackthorn s sworn enemy reopens old wounds and fuels her long-simmering passion for justice. With danger on two fronts, Blackthorn and Grim are faced with a heartbreaking choice to stand once again by each other s side or to fight their battles alone..."

Part of me still wishes that Grim and Blackthorn had remained a platonic relationship. There was something very powerful about that, and it's always nice to see powerful non-romantic relationships between adults in fiction.

Buuut... it does also make sense of part of their healing journey. In the end, I was glad to follow their journey and see them find each other.

This was my #DoubleSpin, just in time.

shanaqui I'm hoping I can also get a #BookSpinBingo line, iiiif I can finish Skyward Inn and Death in the Floating City. I'm not that far off with either, but it does depend on me actually READING, which hasn't been a guarantee in the last week-ish. Sigh. 2y

Okay, gotta start this up for #BookSpin! I've been putting it off for a while because in a sense I'd wanted Blackthorn and Grim to maintain a non-romantic relationship, with just as strong a bond. But... here we go.

And here's the #BookSpinBingo card for this month. Not sure yet what line I might go for...

Nutmegnc OMG I LOVE Blackthorn and Grim!! I‘ve read and reread fifty times!! I loved the audiobook too!! You won‘t be disappointed with anything that Janet Marillier writes!! 2y

I thought it impossible for Marillier to write anything that I love as dearly as Sevenwaters. Well, she did. The conclusion of Blackthorn & Grim is nothing short of perfection.

The finale of Blackthorn & Grimm‘s story. I love the mixture of fairytales, old Ireland & growing after trauma.

So the ending was rushed, like I thought it might be. But it was still good because Grim ended up happy and honestly the that's all I really cared about. I'm sad the publisher cancelled the series, but I can't say I don't get why. But he's so cute and loving and he just wanted her red haired babies 😭😭😭😭😭 And I guess there was a magic plot in there somewhere.

Just finished the Blackthorn & Grim series by Juliette Marillier, it's definitely a 'pick' from me. The first book in the series 'Dreamers Pool' was gripping from the start. The characters were gritty and engaging, you feel involved in their story and you want to follow it through to the end.

My only gripe is that the endings of each book (especially the last) felt rushed and 'convenient'. But that doesn't take away from the enjoyment.

Nutmegnc One of my favorites of all time!!! And the audiobook is amazing!!! 6y
Spud Have you read any of her other series? 6y

New books by Garth Nix, Goldenhand and sarah J Maas, Tower of Dawn. Juliet Marllier's last, and best , of the series Blackthorne and Grim. Her excellent Raven Flight. Cat Sebastian 'a gay historical romance. Jordan Hawk's fantasy gay romance Undertow, and Renee Adiyeh's retelling of the story of Scheherazade. The atmospheric, superb, and surprising Dream-Quest of Vellit Boe and the unexpected The Girl from Everywhere. #best17of2017 1/2

BkClubCare Hey - I read Renee Adiyeh's first in that series? Did we discuss that? Is this the 2nd? 6y
Nutmegnc @BkClubCare i didn't know you read that! The second was better!! And just as gorgeous as the first one. 6y
BkClubCare @Nutmegnc - good to know. Adiyeh lives in NC, I think... 6y
Nutmegnc @BkClubCare I saw her and Sarah Maas speak in Winston Salem. That's how I found out about her 6y

#BOOKFRIDAY2017 🤞🏼📖
So aside from doing my own #catmojogiveaway of the new book ‘Total Cat Mojo‘ by #JacksonGalaxy (so people need to go enter if they love #cats), I‘m gifting a book to a total stranger via her Twitter book wishlist...just because. I just wanted to #payitforward

I finished this book this weekend but I keep rereading parts, then rewinding and listening to them on audiobook. Then rereading. Then relistening. I haven't missed characters this badly for quite some time. I hope Janet Marillier is intending to keep writing stories for this world. And the audio voices for Grim and Blackthorn are perfect!!! I will miss those voices, too!

Listened to this on audio and I love this series! I was so happy with the ending and can tell it was a series wrap up, even though I'd love to see more of Blackthorn and Grim.

"I'll go on any path you want," Grim said.

"Might give you a push sometimes, keep you walking straight. But whatever happens, I'll be right there beside you. Rain or shine. Shadows or light. Step for step. Always."

(Grim. Theta-hero of my heart ?)

earlgreyediting Such a fantastic series. 7y
Otherworld_Library @earlgreyediting It was! I love all her books, but it was nice to have an older heroine. You don't get many thirty-something leads. Which is nuts, really. 7y

DEN OF WOLVES by Juliet Marillier is a historical fantasy and one of my most anticipated books of the year. It didn't let me down, though it also didn't go quite where I expected. Violence against women has always been a key theme of the series. DEN OF WOLVES augments this by focusing on male privilege. It's also slightly less discrete than it's predecessors, so I recommend new readers start with DREAMER'S POOL.

Full review on my blog..

Chachic I haven't had a chance to read this series. I need to catch up on Juliet Marillier's books. 7y
earlgreyediting @chachic I haven't read all of Marillier's work, but this series has been my favourite of the ones I have. 7y

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was everything I could have wanted it to be and the best in the Blackthorn & Grim series IMO. This series strength lies in the steady character development over three books of both Blackthorn & Grim as individuals and as a partnership. The two new POV characters in this were more empathetic than those in the past two books and there is a cameo by a new generation of Swan Island warriors that I totally fangirled over. 🍂🌿🌰🍄
