Has anyone else been so stressed out the last few days that they're having trouble reading? I've sat down with this book a dozen times and have still only made it 20 pages in. 😕
Reading is supposed to be my escape from all of this...
Starting my final #LMPBC book for this round! This one looks cute, so it should be a pretty quick read. My goal is to have it in the mail by the end of the week.

My hold for this audiobook came in, so I‘m starting it today and will just fill in my notes when the paper copy gets to me 😊

I am really surprised by the depth of this one! It portrays incredibly well how the children of immigrants experience confusion, guilt and pressure when choosing their own paths that often do not match their parents' expectations or values. Or how it feels to be brought up in a very different way than most of your friends.
Totally hits home and it feels very universal.

pickA modern day retelling of Romeo and Juliet but with two children of Vietnamese immigrants with rival restaurants?? Honestly, I kind of just bought this for the food descriptions (I was not disappointed). This was a very cute read with good characters and plot. It was especially good for a debut novel (I never would have guessed!). 4⭐️

Lots of delicious sounding food described in the book so don‘t read it if you are hungry!
My only negative thing to point out is the pacing.
All‘s fair in love, war and noodles! Heard some great things about this book. Sat in the garden with iced water and soaking up some 32c sun rays (in the shade of course 🌴)
pick5/5 for this cute one! This was such a cute story. I loved it. Linh and Bao are great characters. This is was like a Vietnamese Romeo and Juliet and was all kinds of perfect. I highly recommend!

pickThis was a predictable Romeo and Juliet retelling, contemporary YA romance. This is the author‘s debut novel, but I see high schoolers liking it. Two dueling Vietnamese restaurants run by feuding immigrants families. There kids get partnered for a high school newspaper assignment and fall in love. There is a happy ending. You definitely want to have some Vietnamese food ready and it made me want to be an artist or a food reviewer.
The Globe & Mail has an article in today‘s paper with Valentine reading suggestions. I want them all ❤️❤️❤️
