Double Extra Pick. I inhaled this book in less than 24 hours!!! This book is heartwarming and beautiful. Sky and his friends are so lovable, and funny. They remind me of my friends in high school, and make me grateful I‘m still friends with them nearly 20 years later. I love how none of the characters waxed poetic about how high school was the best time of their lives. This book was honest and genuine. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻

GingerAntics I absolutely loved how supportive the vast majority of the adults were. I appreciated Couch leaving out any character telling them to sit down, shut up, go to class, and be respectful. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 2y
GingerAntics usually avoid YA books like the plague because authors seem to feel the need to get really cliché or turn an already overly dramatic time in life EXTRA overly dramatic. Robbie Couch absolutely did NOT do that. He let things be dramatic by nature and didn‘t feel the need to embellish. ?????? 2y
GingerAntics He made me think of myself in high school, daydreaming of the crush I had for all three years I was in high school and freaking out when he found out in a less than ideal way. Michael Crouch did an amazing job bringing Sky and his world to life for the audiobook. I really felt like Crouch‘s voice was Sky‘s voice throughout. 2y

My first proper read for #PrideMonth. I‘m not a huge YA fan, but I‘ve heard such good things, I‘m taking this for a spin. Fingers crossed. It‘s can‘t be any worse than the last 5 or so BDB novels.

First book of 2022: complete! I really loved the depictions of friendship and intersectionality here, and the way the school rallied around Sky was just beautiful. Can't wait for more from this author! #yalit

Sky is determined to make his senior prom a special one so of course that means he is going to ask his crush, Ali Rashid, to go with him. That is until a homophobic e-blast revealing his plans for an epic promposal goes viral. It sucks and Sky doesn‘t know what to do until his friends, Ali, and many of his fellow students encourage and support him as he fights back. I really enjoyed this YA contemporary story, Couch‘s debut. A good read.

I finally continued with this one yesterday and today I just could not stop. The story really sucked me in and I had to know how it would all turn out. And I have to say that I loved this, like a lot. So many important topics were discussed in it and I loved how supportive the book felt as a whole. And I really enjoyed the #audiobook too!

I haven‘t really been reading a lot of books lately, but I decided it was time to change that. I dug out this old puzzle to go along with the #audiobook because it‘s been sitting untouched for quite some time. Maybe this time around I‘ll actually finish it! Let‘s see how many books that takes though, because I‘m really struggling with it😂 #audiopuzzling

@Nutmegnc look what arrived a day early?! I think the kid on the cover is wearing a unicorn hoodie and I LIKE IT!!! I wonder if that‘s something you can actually get? I wonder how much that would cost? I kind of want one. 🏳️‍🌈💙🥰

GingerAntics @Nutmegnc I am on the lookout and in the market for one as we speak. I will absolutely be posting everywhere if I get my hands on one. 💙💙🤣 3y

Alas, Book Tok made me do this, too...🤣 It‘s a little angsty but still sweet YA gay prom-posal and buddy novel, with a side of identity-searching.

Mehso-so

It was ok but the ending just felt weird to me for some reason. I like the mc and the diversity of the book.

In light of yesterday‘s insurrection, Simon & Schuster has decided not to publish Sen. Hawley‘s upcoming book. I applaud their gesture and will splurge on one of their titles. I will now post some if my favorite LGBTQ releases they have published in case you want to do the same. #SupportSS

LiteraryinLawrence Thanks for sharing this; I hadn‘t heard they pulled the book publication. I‘m going to support them too. 3y
Lcsmcat Good for them! 3y
Crazeedi What a shame that speech is being suppressed in a country that was founded on free speech 3y

EadieB @Crazeedi I think banning Senator Hawley's book will only make it a best seller as there are a lot of great Americans out there who hate silencing free speech. I for one will buy his book and support him. 3y
ravenlee Isn‘t it within the publisher‘s rights to refuse to publish a book that will benefit a potential criminal? They‘re not refusing to allow it to be published at all, just refusing to be part of it. I can see their side of it. 3y
ChasingOm Y‘all, not paying someone isn‘t suppressing his free speech. S&S gets to decide how they want to spend their money, just like any business in a capitalist society. @Crazeedi @EadieB 3y
ChasingOm Thanks for this post, @WanderingBookaneer. I‘ve had this one on my TBR for a while: 3y
AlaMich @Crazeedi @EadieB Simon & Schuster is a business, not a governmental body. They have the right to decide whom they publish. I assure you, no one is robbing Hawley of his right to free speech. If they were, you would not be reading his seditious, reprehensible nonsense even as we speak. 3y
Jennifer3 Not only is it about deciding how they want to spend their money but they also have the right as a company to support people with beliefs and ideals that are aligned with their company‘s. People can lose their job for violating a company or government‘s code of conduct. 3y
EadieB @ravenlee Senator Hawley is not a potential criminal. His book is about Big Tech Who is shutting down people‘s free speech and now the publisher has shut down this author‘s book which is an affront to Senator Harley‘s free speech. Yes the publisher can decide to publisher who they want but that decision was made because Hawley was standing up for getting answers for his constitutions about serious violations of an election. @ChasingOm (edited) 3y
EadieB @AlaMich The publisher came to their decision not to publish him because he was speaking out for his constituents. He has nothing to do with the people who stormed the capital. How many people‘s books were shut down because Antifa burnt so many of our cities? These protest actions need to be handled fairly and both are acts of violence and need to be denounced fairly but Antfa‘s actions were described as peaceful protests. 3y
Susanita Don‘t worry. I‘m sure another publisher will pick up the book. 3y
EadieB @Susanita I‘m sure! The book will be a best seller for sure as very prominent in these times of trying to silence people that you don‘t agree with. 3y
Susanita Yeah well. I won‘t buy it. 3y
ravenlee @EadieB I wasn‘t referring to his book content; I was referring to his actions and rhetoric on Wednesday encouraging the rioters. Those egging them on could potentially face charges of sedition, inciting a riot, and more. His backpedaling since is trying to cover himself because it didn‘t work. I‘m glad you feel the need to support him, but it‘s the publisher‘s choice and I respect it. 3y
EadieB @ravenlee He never encouraged the rioters. He asked for the senators and the house to look into the election irregularities. It‘s the same as what the dems did in 2016 and continued the Russian hoax for 4 yrs which was proven to be untrue. When you deny people answers, it does incite violence. Why are the dems allowed to ask for answers but the republicans cannot? The media once again is the ones who are inciting violence by stretching the truth. 3y
thewallflower0707 @ all the People defending that vile politician: free speech does NOT mean free of consequences (e.g you are allowed to insult your boss at work, but you will probably get fired). Freedom of speech also doesn‘t mean that you‘re entitled to keep that book contract. It just means that the government cannot punish you for your opinion. 3y
Traci1 I wonder how many of these "free speech" lamenters would be complaining if a christian publisher decided to axe the book of someone found to have had an affair or an abortion. ? (neither of which are against the law, unlike inciting violence by the way). 3y
