The Summer Deal: A Novel | Jill Shalvis
13 posts | 18 read | 1 to read
From New York Times bestselling author Jill Shalvis comes a friends-to-frenemies-to-lovers story Add in a few secrets. Shake. Stir. Then read on a lazy summer day at the beach Brynn Turner desperately wishes she had it together, but her personal life is like a ping-pong match thats left her scared and hurt after so many attempts to get it right. In search of a place to lick her wounds and get a fresh start, she heads back home to Wildstone. And then theres Kinsey Davis, who after battling serious health issues her entire twenty-nine years of life, is tired of hoping for . . . well, anything. She's fierce, tough, and shes keeping more than one bombshell of a secret from Brynn -- her long-time frenemy. But then Brynn runs into Kinsey's best friend, Eli, renewing her childhood crush. The good news: hes still easy-going and funny and sexy as hell. The bad news: when he gets her to agree to a summer-time deal to trust him to do right by her, no matter what, she never dreams itll result in finding a piece of herself she didnt even know was missing. She could have real connections, possibly love, and a futureif she can only learn to let go of the past. As the long days of summer wind down, the three of them must discover if forgiveness is enough to grasp the unconditional love thats right in front of them.

Great summer escape read! Characters with layers and a little more depth than you sometimes find in a romcom. Looking forward to reading more in this series. Finished while on the new treadmill #readingfit

Review:
this was my first time reading a book by this author so I was unsure what to expect but I'm glad I love this book so much!!

To me , it was a feel good Summer Contemporary Story about sisters who go on vacation together!! The characters were so fun and comical to get to know and the storyline plot made me feel like I was at the beach while listening to this audiobook

I wasn‘t sure what to expect, but this definitely wasn‘t some easy breezy summer pool read. That said, it really wasn‘t bad; just not the book I was looking to read when i picked it up. It‘s a lot more emotional, so be prepared. Then again, what did I expect when it‘s about frenemies who find out they‘re half sisters. And one needs a new kidney!

You just can't go wrong with a Jill Shalvis book. Kinsey's and Eli have been best friends since they were kids. They met Brynn at summer camp where they all spent many summers. Kinsey and Brynn becoming frenemies. Brynn and Eli were each other's first kiss. Now Brynn meets back up with the other two after returning home and they go down a rough road of forgiveness and secrets revealed. Always recommend this author!

tracey38 Also finished my goals for the #JoysofJune readathon hosted by @Andrew65 (my first readathon I think! Shocked I met all my goals this week. 😁 4y

Jill Shalvis does it again! Creating likable characters (that we would love to smack upside the head once in awhile) & an interesting storyline. 1/2 sisters, 1 unscrupulous dad, a serious illness, 2 romances, & so man secrets! Mix it all up with a big dose of Jill Shalvis humor ( Sky raisins & jalapeno sky raisins! A classroom of kindergarteners with no filter! Omg, it just got better from there 😂) & you've got a winning combination here!

I can‘t think of any of this author‘s books that I haven‘t enjoyed reading. Her characters are always people I‘d love to be friends with in real life. This book‘s features the evolution of friendship between Brynn and Kinsey, from hating one another to being friends. Both girls have a romance too. This is #5 in the Wildstone series but reads absolutely perfectly as a stand-alone. I inhaled it!! Would be great for pool or beachside reading.

Reecaspieces One of her best! No doubt. I loved it. 4y

I have never read a Jill Shalvis book that I haven‘t loved and this book didn‘t disappoint. I loved all the characters and what I loved even more was that one of the main characters loved the tv show Friends! Can‘t wait to see what she writes next!
