The war with no name rages on, setting the world on fire. Humanity faces extinction at the hands of the Colony, a race of intelligent ants seeking to overthrow the humans and establish a new order. To achieve this, the ants use their strange technology to transform the surface animals into highly evolved killing machines who rise up and murder their oppressors. The bobcat Culdesac is among the fiercest warriors that the Colony's experiment has produced. Driven by revenge, and notorious for his ability to hunt humans in the wild, Culdesac is the perfect leader of the Red Sphinx, an elite unit of feline assassins. With the humans in retreat, the Red Sphinx seizes control of the remote village of Milton. But holding the town soon becomes a bitter struggle of wills. While the humans threaten a massive counterattack, the townsfolk protect a dark secret that could tip the balance of the war. For the sadistic Culdesac, violence is the answer to everything. But this time, he'll need more than his claws and his guns, for what he discovers in Milton will upend everything he believes, everything he fought for, and everything he left behind. Relentless, bloody, and unforgiving, "Culdesac" is the story of an anti-hero with no soul to lose, carving a path of destruction that consumes the innocent and the guilty alike.

Culdesac is really like a .5-1.5 where it sits in the series rather than just 1.5, it‘s set a bit before and during Morte‘s story.
Don‘t read it before you read Morte though.
I liked Culdesac in the first book and here. Yes, he‘s pretty awful but he‘s also a wild animal. Just because he can now move and talk like a person doesn‘t take that away from him, he embraces it. He‘s still awful 😂
I liked this insight into his character, nice quick read.

Had a mammogram today so I was in the western suburbs and went to my favorite bookstore #thebooktable in Oak Park, IL!! My mom was ready to go but then I spotted this quirky little book right in my price range. Seems interesting!! Looking through the reviews just now I saw that @Soubhiville has it and liked it too!! Here‘s #stormy again. #catsoflitsy

Mimi28 @Soubhiville I know I owe you #jb mail too. I‘ll try to get it out this week. I‘m sorry ❤️❤️❤️ 5y
Soubhiville I did really like this one! It‘s fun and very weird. I was just gifted the third in the series, so I‘ll be getting to that soon. No hurry on the mail, no reason to stress about it. I hope you‘re doing well. (Actually I dropped something in the mail to you last week 😊) 5y
Mimi28 @Soubhiville Really?! Cool!! That‘s awesome news!! I‘ll be looking out for it. Thanks I appreciate it. I‘m probably going to save this book until my birthday at the end of the month, because I know it will cheer me up for sure ❤️❤️❤️ 5y

While I didn‘t enjoy this quite as much as I did Mort(e), it was a fun and fast read. I liked getting to know Culdesac the bobcat, and learn his backstory. I was surprised at the end, and I‘m wondering where Repino will go with the next book, D‘Arc. I may pick it up soon.

These covers are some of my favorites! Simple but so cool!

(Thank you Holly!)

Hooked_on_books You‘re welcome! And those covers are great. 6y
ReadingRover I have Mort(e) on audiobook but haven‘t listened to it. I‘m really excited to. I also have D‘arc in print (which I think is the second book) that I got at as an ARC at BookExpo last year. Idk why I‘ve waited this long. 6y
Soubhiville @ReadingRover I hope you‘ll enjoy them! 6y

Froedrick isn‘t as excited to start Culdesac as I am. I tried telling him the main character is a bobcat. Also that animals take over the world. Not impressed. 🤷‍♀️😸

FlowerFairy 😂🤣😂 6y

bookishbitch Is Froedrick a curly eared sphynx? I've seen curly eared cats and sphynx cats before but never both at the same time. He is super handsome regardless. 6y
Soubhiville @bookishbitch yes, it‘s a newer breed called an Elf. They are a cross of Sphynx and American Curl. He‘s a real clown, very mischievous, but yes he‘s adorable. 6y
bookishbitch @Soubhiville Thanks for the info. I haven't been to a cat show in a while so I had no idea. Very interesting! 6y
Soubhiville @bookishbitch when we got him we were looking for a normal Sphynx, as my husband is allergic to normal cats. Our breeder had both, so we ended up with one of each. They are half brothers, with the same dad. 6y

This short book is sitting near the very top of my TBR. #under200pages #readingresolutions

The first book, Mort(e), was very unique and I loved it. Has anyone read this one? Did you like it as well?

SandyW Never heard of the book, but I do love that cover 😀 (I know that want particularly helpful, 😉) 6y
speljamr It's on my TBR shelf with Morte 6y
Yellowpigeon I liked Mort(e) more but it was a good continuation book. Not quite stand alone but still good 6y
CoffeeCatsBooks Morte is still waiting in my TBR pile. 6y

An awesome novella in the Mort(e) series! I love this world. These are strong and violent books with Orwellian themes. Not for kids. Highly recommended.

Nox, a cat turned brothel owner, is introducing Culdesac, cat turned war hero, to coffee. Here are her predictions of people based on coffee preference. True about introverts, well at least me.

Caroline2 Awesome nail polish by the way! 😍 7y

#ATL #booktour Stop 6 - Tall Tales Book Shop

Easily the brightest bookstore I've visited, with helpful staff and complementary cookies at checkout. Always commit to buying something when I visit an #indiebookstore; save the window shopping for the big chains.

Another purchase to prompt an overdue reading of an earlier book in a series. I try to seek out hardcovers, so there's a kind of relief to paperback-only books.

#bookmail So far behind with the League! Who knows when I will get to this. Be awhile before I get to Culdesac too. Considering that Culdesac the giant bobcat was last seen tearing a human apart it should be a lighthearted affair.
