pickFinished off this book over delicious homemade ramen. Four out of five stars for the book, only because the chapter about the 70‘s and 80‘s were a little long winded for me. Otherwise it was an amazing survey of lesbian history. And the ramen was obviously absolutely amazing. 📚🍜
My lover brought me ice cream to work because I‘m feeling down today. She‘s the bomb. Also look how cute my lunch container is! I‘m hoping to finish this book off this week. It‘s good and I‘m loving all the learning about my history as a queer but it‘s starting to drag on. Just a little. Still an amazing book. #queerbooks 🍦🏳️🌈
I‘ve been working so much lately (100 hours per 14 days for the last month) that I️ feel exceedingly guilty about any alone time I️ take to relax. There are so many chores that need to be done and just time that I️ want to spend with my partner and family... and yet I️ need to unwind my way. She‘s feeling a little under the weather so I‘m sneaking some book time. 🐳

Like I said before, non fiction takes me forever so get used to this book on your feed. This is a quote from the section dealing with 1920s/30s lesbianism. I am so so lucky that I get to live out my days openly with my partner. Faderman conducts some interviews with women that had lesbian relationships in this time period and they talk about how hard it was to be in a lesbian relationship and not have anyone to talk to about it. For #NationalComingOutDay, I'd like to highlight three of my favorite #lgbtq reads. Odd Girls and Twilight Lovers is a fascinating read on lesbian history in the US since the 1800s. Tipping the Velvet is a beautifully told piece of historical fiction about a girl finding love and herself. Fun Home is more contemporary, funny and poignant.
