Been reading this one for over a week, so I‘m glad to be done with it. I thought the premise of the book was really cool, but I just found the main character really stupid about a lot of things. She just seemed very ignorant. Like, I‘m sorry but who hears about a resistance and is just like “oh I‘m sure that‘s not that big of a deal to me, a princess, part of the monarchy they want to destroy”. Also, who calmly and voluntarily eats dinner with ⬇️

Zoe-h pirates who tried to murder you? And for a while at the end of the book, it was just plot twists 24/7. And that writing was just so cheesy. I can deal with a couple of romantic lines and still think they‘re sweet, but after awhile it gets really obnoxious. Soft pick. 3.5⭐️ (edited) 2y
TheAromaofBooks My favorite part about this one was that gorgeous cover - I couldn't resist it!! 2y

My pusheens are showing off the new #HUESBookBox! I have to say, I‘m really impressed. Excited to read the books and the goodies (bookmarks this time) are excellent. HUES #bookbox is run by a BIPOC woman and features BIPOC stories/authors/creators. Check it out here: https://huesbookbox.com/ #unboxing #bookhaul #newbooks #bookmarks #pusheen

Gender bent, scifi Cinderella retelling

Aiden has been working at the palace for a while now and always keeps an eye out for something he can steal and sell back to finally except this planet. The only issue is this time around it leads him down a path that crosses with the future queen to be, Princess Delia. Will he be able to keep Delia safe and learn what's going on all while trying to keep up this lie he told her about who he really is?

I had never heard of this book until my eye was caught by the cover whilst scrolling through Book Outlet's website (a most dangerous past time). I rarely buy books for their covers, but that's what happened here & for once the cover lived up to my expectation!

Loosely a gender-swapped version of Cinderella, this is a fabulous scifi tale of a princess who must choose her husband wisely to save her planet. I loved the world-building, enjoyed the ⬇️

#WeeklyForecast - We will see how far I get!! The tagged book was purchased from Book Outlet on the cheap entirety for its cover. I have some random ones, two #LMPBC books, my first Binchy, and Frank Gilbreth Jr.'s biography of his parents. I'm also reading a chapter a day of Pride & Prejudice but forgot to put it in the picture!!

@Cinfhen

Cinfhen I‘m always falling for #covercrush especially on #BookOutlet with their ridiculous sales 🤩 4y
TheAromaofBooks @Cinfhen - I just discovered Book Outlet the beginning of June and have already ordered from them like five times. It's a problem! 😂 4y

This is between a so-so and a pick. I can‘t put my finger on why I didn‘t love it and I‘m not sure if it was the narrator because I really hated the voices she tried to give the characters. The world building fell a little flat and the twist towards the end just fueled enough curiosity to wonder how the story would end. There is a play on a gender swap Cinderella story but that also fell flat to me. The cover art for this lovely 😊

BookmarkTavern Wow! I love that cover! 😍 4y
JamieArc Yeah, this might be one I would buy just for the cover. Gorgeous! 4y

I heard this was a "gender swapped, Sci-Fi retelling of Cinderella," so I had to read that! Look at that amazing cover! Sadly, this was a dud. The characters are one dimensional. The writing is subpar. The plot is full of holes. It was super disappointing. #ya #scifi

ShyBookOwl Bummer! Looks interesting... 4y
NicoleCeBallos @ShyBookOwl yeah, it sounded really good, which makes me super bummed it wasn't. 4y

Even though I really didn‘t love the plot twist, I think they played it out pretty well in the end. This was supposed to be a gender bent Cinderella story, but I felt it was more like Aladdin in Space (not in a bad way!). The heroine was tough and sassy like Jasmine, plus the cover photo led me that way anyways. A good read, definitely pick! P.S. I‘m trying to up my bookstagram game while in quarantine so enjoy my odd photos for the next while 😂

Here I am, 220 pages in and REALLY enjoying this book. The first non-cozy/non-free kindle romance book I‘ve read in almost 3 months, and they throw in THE WORST plot twist in the history of plot twists. Booooo.

PS this picture was taken without me moving from my cozy reading position so that‘s why it‘s a weird angle 😂
