A powerfully written novel offering an intimate look at a beautiful marriage and how bipolar disorder and cancer affect it, Dancing on Broken Glass by Ka Hancock perfectly illustrates the enduring power of love. Lucy Houston and Mickey Chandler probably shouldnt have fallen in love, let alone gotten married. Theyre both plagued with faulty geneshe has bipolar disorder, and she has a ravaging family history of breast cancer. But when their paths cross on the night of Lucys twenty-first birthday, sparks fly, and theres no denying their chemistry. Cautious every step of the way, they are determined to make their relationship workand they put it all in writing. Mickey promises to take his medication. Lucy promises not to blame him for what is beyond his control. He promises honesty. She promises patience. Like any marriage, they have good days and bad daysand some very bad days. In dealing with their unique challenges, they make the heartbreaking decision not to have children. But when Lucy shows up for a routine physical just shy of their eleventh anniversary, she gets an impossible surprise that changes everything. Everything. Suddenly, all their rules are thrown out the window, and the two of them must redefine what love really is. Should hate this book really as it‘s very sad(I said to my daughter it was like watching a whole series of ER in one go!).
But you can‘t tear your eyes away and have to read to the end. Despite the sadness I enjoyed the read and sometimes a good book cry is a wonderful thing.
Another #blameitonlitsy @Cinfhen (tagging worked!)

Cinfhen Glad this book didn‘t disappoint!! I read it a long time ago but I remember having my heart stomped on!! And so glad the tagging worked @TrishB 😘 6y
Reggie @TrishB this has only happened one other time. But this woman asked for my help at work and she had an accent. I asked where it was from and she said it was English. She had been in the states since 1978. She said she was from Banbury, outside of Oxford, about 70 Miles from London. It sounds dumb but I almost asked her if she knew you. Like one time a guy was visiting from Hawaii and “do you know DebinHawaii?” almost rolled off my tongue.Lol 6y
TrishB @Reggie I do that all the time 😁 I refer to Litsy folk as my friends and when people ask about them it‘s only a bit embarrassing to own up to knowing everyone online!! One of my friends is from Banbury 👍🏻 she talks very posh. 6y

Cathythoughts Oh dear “ crying on the bus “ good !! I‘m stacking. I remember you saying about crying on the bus reading & a lady asked you what the book was ! Was it Here Be Dragons? I think it was def historical fiction ... which one though 🤔 (edited) 6y
Kalalalatja Sounds so heartbreaking! If I hadn‘t already stacked it, I would have 💔 6y
TrishB @cathythoughts @kalalalatja @miralunasbooknook I wanted something to give my emotions a kick up the backside! 6y
TrishB @cathythoughts it‘s that trilogy - I think it was Falls the Shadow from the trilogy that made my cry on the bus! And the lady then read the books. I love a good cry over a book! 6y

This book was amazing from start to finish. I fell in love with the main characters right away and you really can relate to them as well. I will admit, keep a box of tissues around for basically the entire book. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for a love story to pull on the heart strings
