#scarathlon #photochallenge #12 #night @Clwojick @StayCurious @FlynnDewey

Excited to get to this one this week. I really loved Vaughn's Golden Age book.

One more #litsyrecommends, the #DoubleSpin for this month was a really enjoyable #urbanfantasy. Great writing, a bit more rough and gruesome than I expected though. A pick!

Using this opportunity to post my #BingoSpin board for this month.

@TheAromaOfBooks - I already marked it on the form, I love the new way of keeping track of the Spin reads. Thank you!

TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!! I'm so glad the form is working!! It's sooo much fun to just look at everyone's posts and not have to spend time interpreting whether it's an ACTUAL BookSpin or “just“ a bingo review 😂 I love it!! 2y

Kitty is a late night radio show host, and also a werewolf. She starts drawing ire from her pack leader and the area‘s powerful vampire when she begins giving advice to other supernatural beings. Then the bodies start piling up and the police come to her to help solve the crime. +11 for #TeamStoker #scarathlon

Reread. I like how much Kitty grows and matures over the course of the novel but also her past experiences and certain situations that she rationalises as normal are quite horrifying (and I think perhaps resonated with me as awful more than when I first read this circa 2009)

I generally like urban fantasy novels, but I wasn't a fan of the werewolves or the pack dynamic in this one. A little grittier than I'd like.

From reading reviews, it sounds like the impression I get from the first bit of an abusive dynamic being treated as okay gets somewhat overturned, leaving the character stronger at the end. But... I'm just not interested in reading all that to get there. Like the talk radio concept, wildly turned off by the abuse fest.

Next up is a book I've already read many moons ago but now it's an entire series so here we go again. Starting at the beginning. It's a very good place to start.

Storytime with kittens.

I've never finished this series, but Evie always picks them up off the shelf. Perhaps it's a sign.

meh.

maybe i was expecting too much?
but like the her other book about heroes, this book also showed the unglamorous side of being a paranormal. it is actually interesting. but i sort of breezed through it with no interest on the next books.

hopefully next time?

So I knew Out of My Mind wasn't going to be *light*, but I didn't think it would make me want to go so far in the opposite direction for my next choice that I would end up with book whiplash...
