Cross My Heart and Hope to Spy (10th Anniversary Edition)
Cross My Heart and Hope to Spy (10th Anniversary Edition) | Ally Carter
23 posts | 84 read | 12 to read
Celebrate the 10th anniversary of the New York Times best-selling Gallagher Girls series with this new edition, featuring an exclusive epilogue from Ally Carter! After staking out, obtaining, and then being forced to give up her first boyfriend, Josh, all Cammie Morgan wants is a peaceful semester. But that's easier said than done when you're a CIA legacy and go to the premier school in the world . . . for spies. Cammie may have a genius I.Q., but there are still a lot of things she doesn't know. Like, will her ex-boyfriend even remember she exists? And how much trouble is she really in after what happened last semester? And most of all, why is her mother acting so strangely? Despite Cammie's best intentions to be a normal student, danger seems to follow her. She and her friends learn that their school is going to play host to some mysterious guests-code name: Blackthorne. Then she's blamed for a security breach that leaves the school's top secret status at risk. Soon, Cammie and her friends are crawling through walls and surveilling the school to learn the truth about Blackthorne and clear Cammie's name. Even though they have confidence in their spy skills, this time the targets are tougher (and hotter), and the stakes for Cammie's heart-and her beloved school-are higher than ever.

I cannot believe I read this in less than 24 hours. This might be my new favourite book series which makes me feel bad because I‘m loyal to Jeeves & Wooster. But honestly this is the 2nd book from this series and the 2nd one I‘ve voted 5 stars
YA series about a school for spies, the girls decide to investigate when the East Wing of the school is shut off and no one tells them why
I gave this book 5 stars ✨

Lol 😂
So I‘m on a book ban until at-least the 13th September, but you can bet your bottom dollar that when that date comes around I‘m going to buy at-least 10 books because I‘ve managed to get my TBR down to 1 shelf and that‘s just not acceptable 😂

Fun. You use the same tricks and knowledge in dating as you do spying.

These books look like so much fun. It's okay to read them as a grown up, isn't it?!

Read4life Yup. As long as you enjoy what you're reading, that's all that matters. 7y
Chelsibeau I started reading YA when I was a YA Then one day was like woah I am not a YA. It snuck up on me! I still enjoy them so I still read them. 7y
BookishClaire I couldn't decide if these were YA or middle grade (not that there's anything wrong with reading MG either). Wishing I'd bought them now @Chelsibeau 7y

I read part of this on an airplane and a bit in my hotel and a bit in Central Park. I liked it - not as much as the first one - but I'll still read the next one. They're fun and frothy, and perfect for lazy vacation reads.

Cinfhen Gorgeous photo 💚💙💚 7y
howjessicareads @Cinfhen It's all to Central Park's credit! Since it's an unfiltered cell phone shot. :) The park was just so pretty! 7y
Dragon What a lovely day ! Look at that blue sky 😀 7y

Reading on the pool deck at our hotel! (Slightly sad I forgot to pack a swimsuit... but the view makes up for it!)

Boys. It doesn't matter that you're trained super spies, they still make teenage girls crazy.

Cute, fun, and light.
I'll keep reading.

That moment when you're halfway through a book and realize it's the second in a series and not the first.
Sigh...
Second time in recent memory that I've done that.
Luckily, I was able to get my hands on the first one.

Picked this up because I needed a light, easy, cute read. It's coming through so far.

spy stuff is hard. Girl stuff is hard. But I doubt there‘s anything harder than spy-girl stuff.

I‘d thought he was chivalrous (but he wasn‘t). I‘d thought he was cute (but tall, dark, and handsome is highly overrated when you think about it). And worst of all, I‘d thought he‘d been flirting…with me.

all I heard was the crackling of wood in the fireplace and the sigh of a girl who, after spending every spare moment for a week barricaded in the library, was starting to lose faith in books

I once saw her give herself a bloody nose while opening a can of Pringles. (I‘m soooo not even making that up.)

This is a pick because it has mostly female characters and they are non-traditional in that they're training to be spies. It takes place in a school so it also has typical school elements - friends, crushes, etc. However, it's not overly violent and there are no sexy-times other than an occasional kiss. It also shows some consequences for actions, which is a plus. It's fairly safe for pre-teens and teens to read.
