Who is the new Thor? That's the question on everyone's lips. Most especially the original Thor! And now he starts to narrow down the list of suspects. Meanwhile, tensions continue to flare between the All-Mother and All-Father, Malekith the Dark Elf forges his most dangerous pact yet, and the new Thor prepares to face her greatest challenge: the unstoppable machine of death and destruction that is...the Destroyer! As the battle for the hammer Mjolnir rages on, an unexpected character makes a shocking return - and the new Thor's identity is revealed at last! COLLECTING: THOR 6-8, ANNUAL 1, WHAT IF? (1977) 10

I really enjoyed the story, it definitely improved from the last volume. There's some "girl power" in this one, but it's done naturally in a cool fight scene that didn't feel preachy. And as for fight scenes, while this one felt long to me I enjoyed every panel of it because it fleshed out Thor even more! This volume has three shorts at the end that have nothing to do with the main story, and I felt as a whole they weakened the vol so skip them!

Guess who is reading Thor with their new action figure? :)

I couldn't resist the Marvel e-trade deals that are going on at Amazon. I was good and only got some Thor stuff. I really wanted some Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, but I think I will wait and treat myself to them in physical format. Did anyone else stock up on some Marvel comics?

Going to have to add Fandral to my fictional favourite boys list. I just adore Marguerite Sauvage's Thor art. (Tales of Thunder: Annual 1)

About half of the book is the conclusion to the female Thor - who is she story arc. The rest was 'extras' - including the 'Tales of Thunder: Annual 1' comic and a 1978 comic where they had a Thor is a woman storyline.

Thor: Goddess of Thunder vol 2

I'm totally loving the new Thor 😉 I thinks she's great and I want to read more about her story. Sadly, no release date on volume 3 yet. 😞

True to its name, everyone is still trying to figure out who holds the hammer in this one. The reader does find out, though. Prince Odinson seems desperate to know and know why she is more worthy. He was mad it went to someone else in the first volume and makes some progress towards understanding here. There's a pretty awesome battle scene too and lots of Odin family drama.

And that is Prince Odinson and an army of Marvel women coming to make sure Thor knows she doesn't have to stand alone against the Destroyer. He's being pretty awesome and supportive of the mystery woman who wields the hammer but my fave thing about this frame is #womenhelpingwomen.

I hope everyone has been enjoying their holiday! I have been relaxing and going through my library books. I'm so glad I finally got to read these.

Well written and filled action and all kinds of mythological drama. Thor doesn't just have to face villains, but an Earth and Asgard that isn't fully ready to accept her. I enjoyed the teamwork between her and other female comic characters the best. Thor is Thor, but she also has a power all her own.

Eyelit That's what I'm doing today, too! 👍 7y
Dorianna @Eyelit It's the perfect way to spend the holiday. 7y

I started off this series a wee bit concerned about it just being a gimic of Thor's now a girl. I have no problem with things being gender or race swapped as long as it's not tokenism and effort is put into the story. Luckily this is well written and we have the reveal of who is worthy to hold the hammer over odinson. #kickassheroines

So I'm going to relatives for thxgiving this year. I may die. Am bringing some comics with me to take out my TBR and to keep whatever shred of sanity I can salvage. I probably shouldn't bring all of these, but maybe like half? Which ones should I bring? Halp me plz #comics #thesearemysavinggracetbh

Riveted_Reader_Melissa I don't know! But I can't wait to see your recommendations when you get back! 😉 7y
SuperPunkNinja I say bring them all! You've got to be prepared. 😉 7y

intothehallofbooks All of them! 👏🏻👏🏻 7y
LauraBrook Yeah, bring them all, seriously. It's only 22. 7y
CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian BLUE IS THE WARMEST COLOUR is pretty depressing, wouldn't bring that if you're not up for it! 7y
literarymermaid All of them! You never know which you'll want when you get there, but if you leave some at home it will inevitably be one of those. 7y
queerbookreader @CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian Omg is it really? I heard about the movie and screamed when I found the comic but if it's super depressing it might not be a great pick for thanksgiving with the relatives haha. Thank youuu 7y
queerbookreader @StoredFeminism Literally always happens to me. But 22 comics are really heavy 😩 mainly the reason why I only want to bring half haha 7y
CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian @lemonlime799 Yeah it's very very different from the movie. The main character goes through basically every possible form of homophobia after she comes out. I found the plot melodramatic but the art is beautiful. 7y
literarymermaid @lemonlime799 Oh right, I forget. I'm always stuck for space too. It was the leading reason I gave up on physical books a few years ago. I just couldn't anymore, especially when I found Overdrive and Scribd. 7y
queerbookreader @StoredFeminism I wish I could get into ebooks more (they're also cheaper a lot of the time) but I get migraines when I stare at screens for too long 7y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa I'd go for some serious girl power for a tough family trip...Wonder Women, etc... 7y
BookishMarginalia I suggest you close your eyes and pick at random 🤓 7y
missevievelyn Ms Marvel vol. 5 was really super fun! I also enjoyed the second volume of Thor a lot! Those are the only ones I've read and can comment on, but I'm excited to see which ones you enjoy 😊 7y
Dorianna Good luck with your family over the holidays. If they're going to stress you out, maybe bring something fun with you to help decompress? Jem and the Holograms seems perfect for that. 7y
JanuarieTimewalker13 I vote for Jen and the Holograms-I love the title! 7y
