Started off National Poetry Month by reading this book. Beautiful poetry! It has a mix of free style and various rhyming schemes, though most are free style. Some of the topics are rough to read, so please check out the trigger warnings before reading and please take breaks when needed. Some of these poems hit pretty hard to me, but there was also a lot of hope in her words too!

Currently reading this dark fantasy, and boy, is it dark! I normally make notes about characters, especially if they have weird names, so that I can keep them straight. But I haven't bothered so far because there's so much death, like damn!

It's an interesting story told in an almost journal format. The pacing was a little different from what I'm used to. Recommend it to anyone who wants something different, or looking for feminist lit. I will WARN you, there are mentions of abuse and rape, nothing too graphic but just enough reference to understand what's happening/happened. So please choose carefully if you want to read this. Overall, I give it a 3.5/5

Not worth the money honestly. The art is mediocre and at times inconsistent. The coloring is mostly in shades of red, which really washed out the characters at times. The story is sloppy and promised comedy and action but didn't follow through. The comedy fell flat and the action was boring. Also all the heavy handed comments and man bashing made me sick. If you're into third wave feminism you'll enjoy it. If not, seriously skip it.

Currently reading this beautiful looking book! Hopefully the masterpieces that are the illustrations match the craft of the stories!

Got about 20% of the way thru the book before I had to put it down. The plot holes are large enough to drive an 18 wheeler thru. The characters are terribly boring and irritating, nothing redeemable about them. Within the first 5 or so chapters Morta tries to commit suicide and I feel like the author handles it poorly, which may make this a hard read for people who have tried to commit suicide. And it really needed an editor.

I really enjoyed the story, it definitely improved from the last volume. There's some "girl power" in this one, but it's done naturally in a cool fight scene that didn't feel preachy. And as for fight scenes, while this one felt long to me I enjoyed every panel of it because it fleshed out Thor even more! This volume has three shorts at the end that have nothing to do with the main story, and I felt as a whole they weakened the vol so skip them!

Loved the anime, so now I'm giving the manga a try!

Monstress is absolutely breathtaking and I'm in love! It looks and feels like the Asian brain child of Neil Gaiman and Guillermo del Toro. The art is beautiful and the story is quite thrilling. I can't wait to read the next volume! I recommend this to anyone who loves horror or fantasy. But if you're squeamish when it comes to gore, mutilation, and explicit violence, read at you're own risk!

Giant Days is a real fun story that explores the friendship between 3 freshmen girls through comedy. It's a very light read full of cute moments that will definitely try to put a smile on your face. I recommend this to anyone in or going into college! Bonus: get to see a character try to figure out their sexuality with the support of their friends!

This was an interesting short read! I highly recommend it to anyone interested in afrofuturism or sci-fi. The science isn't very heavy and there are some interesting themes in this novella! Definitely a good, interesting read that many will just fly through!

This volume is beautifully drawn and colored. The story is interesting and mysterious, but it suffers from being rushed. Overall, it was a fun read and I recommend it to any Steampunk wealth!

I was given a free copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.
I recommend this fantasy to any young reader or parent looking for a new bedtime story to read. This story from Russia contains wonderful life lessons, facts about time, interesting characters and cool world building. It's not bad for a first novel, and the plot holes wouldn't be found by any reading or listening young reader.

I was given a frew copy of this book for an honest review. This book was such a chore to read. The characters weren't likable. Little research was done about Barcelona so the characters were there in name only. The romance should've played out like a Liam Neeson Taken movie, the heroine made stupid decisions and played a dangerous game with no repercussions. Overall, the story was boring, frustrating, and not worth my time.

Went out to our local comic book store for free comic book day with my boyfriend. We came back with 18 of the selected free issues and an additional 5 comics that I bought, the ones on the left side of the picture. Can't wait to read them all! #fcbd2017

This book wasn't bad, but it definitely had the feel if a first published book. The author's voice was tentative and her style was very plain. But over all the book was interesting for its folklore, though I'm not sure how many kids would actually be interested in that.

The Journey Home: A Memoir | Patrice M. Foster
Mehso-so

This memoir is a very dark tale of Patrice's life in Jamaica and America. It contains mentions of rape, abuse, neglect, depressions, and abandonment. It is not for the faint of heart, but it may prove to be an interesting and informative read for anyone who is interested. Nothing is sugar coated in this book.
