Death At The President's Lodging
Death At The President's Lodging | Michael Innes
4 posts | 6 read | 16 to read
Inspector Appleby is called to St Anthony's College, where the President has been murdered in his Lodging. Scandal abounds when it becomes clear that the only people with any motive to murder him are the only people who had the opportunity - because the President's Lodging opens off Orchard Ground, which is locked at night, and only the Fellows of the College have keys?

#samebookdifferentcover. Also we could have #samebookdifferenttittles This gets me super peaved when this happens. You see a tittle that you don't "have" and lo and behold it is already on yer shelf. This happened plenty when I was reading all the Agatha Christie stories.

LauraBrook Yes, both of these are so annoying!!! 😡 7y
Bibliotini I had this issue with Agatha Christie books too. Finally made a list for myself to reference. Although it's been years, I still have it just in case I go on another Christie reading jag. 7y

Pickpick

A golden age "locked-room" mystery set in a cloistered college in England, featuring Inspector Appleby, renowned for his intellect and literary allusions. His technique includes studying suspects' bookshelves for clues to their psyches. Set-up is pretty arid, but denouement is dazzling.

SusanInTiburon This was retitled Seven Suspects for the American market - presumably to avoid being mistaken for a political thriller. 8y
ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled This sounds like fun - added to TBR! 8y
Gulfsidemusing Sounds great! 8y
