DCI Jordan goes undercover to investigate human trafficking, whilst Dr Hill's case has torture, sexual assault, & death alongside historic atrocities committed by the Nazis. When the slip-up happened, it felt incongruous as I didn't feel that Jordan would make that kind of rookie mistake. For that and the graphic sexual assault at the end, I rate this one 3.5🌟

Book 3 in the Tony Hill / Carol Jordan Series, one of my favourite series. This is an important book in the series and experiences for Carrol in this one changed her (understandably), and impacted on decisions she made in future books.
Another #Temptation as book 11 is published later this week, can‘t wait to see how Val built on life changing events for Tony in book 10. Strongly recommend this series. ❤️

gradcat @squirrelbrain That is so cool—I‘m jealous! I read her mostly in the 80s and 90s—she was much more prolific then—but she still puts out a book about every other year or so. The series that @Andrew65 has posted is one of her best, and I have been rewatching the TV adaptations on Acorn (guilty pleasure). I hope you get a chance to read some of her work! ♥️ 5y

I love Val McDermid and this series. Having said that, this one isn't totally successful at meshing its two storylines. Still a good read though.
