The Big Vote
The Big Vote: Gender, Consumer Culture, and the Politics of Exclusion, 1890s1920s | Liette Gidlow
2 posts
Liette Gidlow shows that the Get-Out-the-Vote campaigns of the 1920s -- overlooked by historians until now -- helped to connect politics to a modern culture of consumption, define the place of newly enfranchised women in civic life, and remake the very meanings of citizenship.

I‘m loving seeing all the voting stickers and pictures. This is a kick ass reminder for those of you who are still not out there in a line to get it moving. I see you! Yep. I do. Put on your shoes, grab your ID, keys, and go. If you need a ride, your town has volunteers. I know. I drove a bunch of elderly people this morning. #VOTE
