Dame Cicely Saunders was a nurse, social worker, and physician. Most importantly, she was the founder of the modern hospice movement. As a former hospice nurse, I‘m so grateful to her for her vision and for making it a reality. It was about pain control, yes, but also focused on the whole person - all of the facets that make up who we are. Hospice isn‘t a death sentence; instead, it‘s about quality of life. #independentwomen

There are more women I admire than I could possibly name or picture, but included here are: Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Ida B Wells, Frida Kahlo, Pink, Gloria Steinem, Maya Angelou, Amanda Gorman, and Kathryn Jaliman (a family friend and painter), all who have had an influence on my life.
