New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh stuns with a sizzling contemporary romance... "A bad boy wrapped in a sexy, muscled, grown-up package might be worth a little risk..." Molly Webster has always followed the rules. After an ugly scandal tore apart her childhood and made her the focus of the media's harsh spotlight, she vowed to live an ordinary life. No fame. No impropriety. No pain. Then she meets Zachary Fox, a tattooed bad boy rocker with a voice like whiskey and sin, and a touch that could become an addiction. "A one-night stand with the hottest rock star on the planet, that's all it was meant to be..." Fox promises scorching heat and dangerous pleasure, coaxing Molly to extend their one-night stand into a one-month fling. After that, he'll be gone forever, his life never again intersecting with her own. Sex and sin and sensual indulgence, all with an expiration date. No ties, no regrets. Too late, Molly realizes it isn't only her body that's become addicted to Fox, but her heart...

I LOVED this book. Nothing like a hard rock band member falling for the girl next door. I know. I know I can see you rolling your eyes with this but I‘m telling you the storyline works, the characters are fun and believable and this is one hot and steamy but not gratuitous romance. This is the perfect story to disappear into while real life is a bit of the crazy.

Rating: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ of 5 ⭐s.

WHOO-WEE, THIS WAS PRETTY HOT! I chose to go with this series as my foray into #contemporaryromance because I'm familiar and like Singh's #GuildHunter series, and this turned out to be a pretty good intro! Liked the romance, though my eyebrows did go up a bit at how controlling Fox could be. It's not a deal-breaker for me, personally, but I can see how some people might not be comfortable with it.

I'm not so much into contemporary romance, since my intro to the genre was via urban fantasy and historical romances, but on a whim I decided to give this one a shot because it's written by Nalini Singh and oh. My. GODS. Rock music isn't precisely my genre of choice (I'm more into classical or soundtrack scores) but this...was pretty dang hot. Gonna scoop up the rest of the series now.

While I liked this book, I wasn‘t a huge fan of the rock star. He was arrogant, and manipulative, and very controlling. I also didn‘t like how the main character had to leave her job and her home to be with him. There was also little plot beyond sleeping with and then falling in love with the rock star.

It doesn‘t come close to her psy-changeling and Guild Hunter series, but it was fairly enjoyable to read.

Pic is of my accompanying drink!

xicanti This is definitely my least favourite book in the Rock Kiss series. The others are way better! 4y
Bookworm54 @xicanti good to know! I got it on kindle while it was free, and have rock hard downloaded too. I will probably give it a read eventually :) 4y

theresidentromantic @TheRomantiCate This is so light, I honestly have to remind myself where it is. It's maybe the weight of several sturdy pieces of cardstock and fits into my smallest messenger bag, which I really love. It's simpler than a tablet, just does the ereader thing, but that's why I got it. I was reading on my phone and I need to detach a bit from the distractions and life. 5y

And another “research” trip concludes. We had to brave snowmageddon 18 and travel a few hours away but I got to see my favorite guys for the first time in almost a year. Especially the 2 on the left—they give the best hugs and we surprised em by coming to see them in a new (to us) place. #stillnotbookrelated #writinginspiration #music #supportlivemusic

Free on Amazon at the moment!!!! I abandoned my resolution to not start any of her new series and read this (overnight on my staycation to get sleep... yeah, oops! #noregrets !). I prefer her Archangels series but this is a solid read. Enjoyable, interesting characters, well edited and well written. Not a huge plot per se but for a fast relaxing read with a HEA, I‘d definitely recommend Singh.

I initially liked this one a lot. The heroine's great, and the first chunk takes place in Auckland, my favourite city. On top of that, I'm a sucker for stories about a regular person who forms any sort of relationship with a famous person.

Trouble is, the hero's controlling and domineering, and not in a negotiated BDSM way. I hated him. I also wanted a stronger sense of place, especially in the NZ scenes, and the story went on too long. Sigh.

I cooked up a big ol' skillet of cheeseburger gnocchi while I listened to my audiobook. Then I ate too much of it, as you do. #audiocooking

JPeterson That looks amazing! 6y
xicanti @JPeterson it's the BEST! 6y
AmandaL I could eat a whole bag of gnocchi... I would quickly regret it, but I could do it. 😳😁 6y

xicanti @AmandaL lately, I've taken to toasting gnocchi in butter and eating them like chips. They disappear kiiiiiiinda fast. 6y
xicanti @Tamra I usually add some extra cheese, too, so it's extra good. 6y

I'm mostly enjoying my third Nalini Singh romance, but holy hell does the narrator's accent work ever annoy me. I was more than an hour in before I realized the heroine is a kiwi, not an American expat, because that's what Keef's voice led me to believe. She attempts a New Zealand accent with one random character, and there're a couple of Aussie accents later on, but that's it.

Boo. I wish they'd hired a kiwi actor to perform this NZ-set story.

I quite liked Singh's Psy-Changeling books, so I gambled on this one... It didn't pay off. For me, a man's hand around a woman's throat is on a spectrum between an unwelcome dominance display and an outright threat. There was enough hand-on-throat in this to utterly put me off. There's a lot of sex, none of it particularly titillating or seductive. I won't be reading the rest of this series.

Next up for #februaryisforromantsy is Nalini Singh's contemporary Rock Kiss series. I had never read her stuff before and I loved it! I can't wait for her to continue the series with one of the hero's rugby-playing brothers! #meghanreadsromantsy #romantsy

A quiet librarian meets a famous rock star at a party next thing you know they're hot and heavy 🔥Of course the woman has to give up her career and her life to follow her man . Grrrr.. I prefer the psy-changeling stories.

saresmoore Eww to that eventuality. Having lived it irl, I hate to read about it! 7y
Dragon Thanks @saresmoore we agree 👍 7y
KarmonR I prefer the pay-changeling novels as well. 7y

While I was trying a sample of Rise by Karina Bliss, I remembered that I have another rock star romance in my Kindle! I was able to get Rock Addiction when it was a freebie a few months ago. Here it is in a #bookandcoffee shot.☕📖 Another go-to cafe for me is Jab, mostly because of their earl grey mocha. Goes perfectly with a cheese tart. Also, they have a sippy cup type of lid.😂

For some reason Rock Courtship isn't listed on Litsy, but it was a great novella about the relationship between Thea and David. We saw parts of it in Rock Addiction. Sweet and emotional book.

A good contemporary romance, a little repetitive. But honestly doesn't even compare to her paranormal series. I have higher hopes for the next in this series.

MeganB I think the second one is the drummer's book (David?? OMG I'm so bad at names!) and it's really adorable! 8y
Lauren_reading @MeganB - good to know! I liked the memo bits of the relationship mentioned in this book :) 8y
