Its a long way from New York to Idahobut could they have found a home at last? Dani Capelli has never truly belonged anywhere. And from her earliest days as a foster child in Queens, she would have been lost if it werent for her love of animals. Until high school, when she fell hard for the wrong boy, and found herself pregnantand marriedby graduation. Two daughters later, Dani realized her mistake and filed for divorce, and with the help of scholarships and loansand a lot of macaroni and cheese dinnersshe enrolled in vet school. Things were finally looking upuntil her ex-husband became her late husband, in the most notorious way possible. Now Dani and her daughters need an out-of-town pass more than ever. So when the retiring Haven Point veterinarian offers her a chance to settle in the small Idaho town and take over his practice, she jumps at it. But adjusting to the charming mountain community isnt easy; thirteen-year-old Silver begins acting out while six-year-old Mia is growing too attached to Haven Point and everything in it, especially their next-door-neighbor, Deputy Sheriff Ruben Morales. And Dani cant blame her. Ruben is everything shes secretly wantedand everything she cant bear to risk lovingand losing. As the holidays draw near, their shared concern for Danis daughters brings them closer together, giving Ruben the chance to show this big-city woman just how magical Christmas in Haven Point can be...and that the promise of a home at last is very real in the most wondrous season of the year

#9 in the Haven Point Series. I picked this one to read after Pet Sematary as a lite, lovely palette cleaner with an HEA. I love this series with its small town lake setting and close-knit community. This one featured single mom veterinarian Dani and her two young daughters as Dani falls for their next door neighbor, police officer Ruben. This is a great Christmas read, full of snow and lights and gift-giving.

Probably my least favorite of the series so far - Dani's paranoia REALLY got on my nerves - but still an overall fun and happy addition to the series AND the book that let me complete my GR goal of 275 books!!!

Working on the dreaded ceiling-painting project since sunshine and a day home have finally coincided! Whenever my neck gets tired, I stop and read a chapter of the tagged book. Small rewards!!

AmyK1 Painting the ceiling is the worst! Hope your neck doesn‘t hurt too bad. 4y
TheAromaofBooks @AmyK1 - thanks!! I've been putting it off for a while now, so it's good to have it behind me. This house is the neverending project!!! 4y

Finished this one Saturday night. It was a cute, light holiday read. I enjoyed the small town setting, the development of the oldest daughter, the developing relationship between the two main characters, and the youngest girl was just adorable. It was just a sweet read for this time of year, without putting too much into it.

Started this one last night and read about half of it before going to bed. It's a good, quick read so far. I had to work today so am just now settling in to read a little before bedtime. I think this is the first book I've read by this author.

Hoping that reading Christmas books will finally get me in the mood to start Christmas shopping. I loved revisiting Haven Point. Hope there are more books in this series!

Dolly Wondering if anyone else is annoyed when the authors name is larger than the book title. Is it just grumpy old me? 5y
LeslieO Agreed @Dolly I had to look twice, I thought her name was the title. 5y
DivineDiana @Dolly I have never seen that done in a book cover design! Not a fan! 5y
Dolly @LeslieO @DivineDiana This is an extreme case but I don‘t even like the same size lettering. It‘s like the author is an advertisement. 5y
