The Bad Mood
The Bad Mood | Moritz Petz
2 posts
Badger got up one morning feeling very grumpy. ""Humph!"" Badger said to himself. What was the point of being in a bad mood if nobody noticed? he thought. So Badger headed out, slamming the door behind him. Badger spreads his bad mood far and wide, greeting all his friends with angry, rude remarks that put them in bad moods, too. A comical, cautionary tale for anyone who has ever gotten up on the wrong side of the bed.

6 of my past 7 reads were so-so‘s and I‘m convinced it‘s me and not them (even the Murakami was barely a pick). I don‘t know if it‘s stress or what, but NOTHING is working for me right now. Anyone else ever deal with this? It‘s super unusual for me. 😑

bookandcat Yeah I hear you. Maybe it's time for a palette cleanser or a reread of a book you have read before that you love to reset the funk? 7y
cariashley @bookandcat that‘s exactly what I was going for with the YA and romance reads - they usually are a great funk breaker! I‘m not usually a re-reader but that‘s a good idea, and I‘ll try anything at this point! 7y
bookandcat @cariashley good luck! It sucks to be in a reading rut! 7y

Dragon When I‘m in a slump I like to read romances because sometimes I need a guaranteed happy ending to get my groove back. Good luck with whatever strategy you try 🤞 7y
8little_paws Yes more and more. I'd been chatting about it with my book friends. We decided what's happening is the more we read the more discerning we become. 7y
NCNY Maybe some non-fiction might help? I had a similar run off duds and bails a few weeks ago and Dan Pfeiffer's book brought me fully out of it. 7y
NCNY Oh - just noticed the Jerkins on your list. Maybe non-fiction isn't the answer.... 7y
cariashley @8little_paws I really like that answer! It makes a lot of sense and makes me feel less guilty ☺️ 7y
cariashley @Dragon usually that helps me too! I need to keep jumping genres I think! 7y
cariashley @NCNY it‘s a good suggestion. I listened to the Jerkins on audio and think I‘m just too easily distracted. The Pfeiffer is a great idea, I‘d rather be politically enraged than apathetic! 7y
Centique Yes I get like this at times too! All the above suggestions are great and have worked for me before but last time I ended up bingeing a Netflix series (The Alienist - it was great) - I think I needed a book break for a few days. 7y
cariashley @Centique that‘s a great idea actually! I need to find something truly bingeworthy, will look into The Alienist! 7y
