The #1 bestselling new mystery series of the past decade comes roaring back with 3rd Degree, a shockingly suspenseful thriller featuring the Women's Murder Club. One of James Patterson's best loved heroines is about to die. Detective Lindsay Boxer is jogging along a beautiful San Francisco street when a fiery explosion rips through the neighborhood. A town house owned by an Internet millionaire is immediately engulfed in flames, and when Lindsay plunges inside to search for survivors, she finds three people dead. An infant who lived in the house cannot be found - and a mysterious message at the scene leaves Lindsay and the San Francisco Police Department completely baffled. Then a prominent businessman is found murdered under bizarre circumstances, with another mysterious message left behind by the killer. Lindsay asks her friends Claire Washburn of the medical examiner's office, Assistant D.A. Jill Bernhardt, and Chronicle reporter Cindy Thomas to help her figure out who is committing these murders-and why they are intent on killing someone every three days. Even more terrifying, the killer has targeted one of the four friends who call themselves the Women's Murder Club. Which one will it be? While the investigation rages furiously, Lindsay works very closely with a federal officer assigned to the case. At the same time, she learns that one member of the Women's Murder Club is hiding a secret so dangerous and unbelievable that it could destroy them all.

This series is a good solid murder mystery series. Lindsay and the girls are great characters and I cannot wait to read the next installment.

Finished this one today. I‘m on the fence between pick and so-so. It was a little cheesy in parts and he killed a main character (which isn‘t something I forgive easily). I chose pick though bc I‘ll definitely be reading the next one. And because maybe it‘s just my mood today. Might need a fantasy break from the murder mysteries soon.

I started this one the day before my trip to the beach last week. Today is my first day back at work and I am so happy to be reading over lunch! I need a break from the mountain of work I found when I got back!

Easy, quick read. Enjoyable. Had a few surprises, however the ending became predictable

Good book - would be my least favorite of the first three so far. Clever twists right up until the end.

Andrew65 I didn‘t like one of the twists in this one! 12mo
Ash19Lyn @Andrew65 either did I... it was a little bit of a letdown in my opinion! 12mo

Does anyone else #audiovacuum ? 😂 Listening to audiobooks is the only way to make cleaning somewhat bearable.

Just finished the tagged book, which is my second book from my #FreakyFriday April TBR. Loved it, just as I knew I would. I love this series. Probably even more than the Alex Cross series from James Patterson.

What shall I read next? 🧐🤔

KimHM I‘m going to now! Great idea. 🎧📚💚 2y

My heart stopped. Except for the part that was beating violently out of control.

Clwojick @Beckykearns I‘m loving the audiobook. It‘s not just simple narration, they use noise clips for bombs, voice changers etc. 2y

Next up on the #FreakyFriday list. Hoping to have this one finished by end of day Monday, but we‘ll see how we do. ☺️

I‘ve previously read the first two, and enjoyed them. This is the first one I‘ve listened to on #audiobook, so here‘s to hoping it‘s enjoyable. And if not, I‘ve got the physical book too. 🙌

Andrew65 This was one of my favourites in the series. 2y

These books are always quick reads because the chapters are so short. The plots are always ridiculous though. Are there really THAT many serial killers running around San Francisco?

Jess7 I've never read a James Patterson book I liked. Maybe it's his plots, but I tend to stray away from reading authors with tons of books - in my experience those authors tend to crank out stories without some of the fine tuning that authors with a lot less books. For psychological thrillers - I really enjoy Mary Kubica, Gillian Flynn, Megan Miranda, Ruth Ware, Paula Hawkins, Holly Brown, Kate Morton, Amy Gentry and Gilly Macmillan, Herman Koch, 2y
Jess7 Abigail Haas, William Landay, Peter Swanson, Kate Moriettie, Jessica Knoll, lisa lutz, Kimberly McCreight, and lianne moriarty to name a few 2y
Jess7 But full disclaimer: I'm not a fan of James Paterson, Lee child, Karin slaughter, Patrica Cornwall or John Grisham novels - so if you like those authors. I also judge books by the covers more times than not 😜 2y
ReadingMeagan @Jess7 Thanks! I have read a lot of those authors too! I always give James Patterson a chance, he does really awesome things for children's literacy I try to look past the million books he publishes a year. They are good for something to read when you don't want to concentrate too hard, and don't want to be kept up at night with a thriller! 2y
Jess7 That makes sense. A lot of people like them. I just learned about sending books via #mediamail. Had I of known about this amazing feature the post office has available to me - I would of mailed out the set of James Patterson books my neighbor gave me last year when they moved. Ultimately I donated them to goodwill for her but that would been a fun giveaway 2y

Not one of my favorites so far. I did like that's an easy read and does keep your attention (even if it's well past your bedtime!). But i feel that the story line could of been better.
