What an amazing book, how Edith survived the war. So sad she didnt end up with either of the man she loved.

Imagine being a bright, accomplished, and outspoken woman in Nazi Germany. Now imagine being Jewish. Circumstance forces the author to marry a Nazi officer to survive the Holocaust. An astounding autobiography of a life lived by a determined and unflinching woman. Well worth the time and emotional effort.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — I could not put this book down! This woman‘s story is incredible. My heart was racing throughout the book, what she and other Jewish people endured during this time period was absolutely horrific.

Couldn‘t put this one down, another great story into the life of Edith Hahn living under Nazi regime as a Jew. You really get to know Edith in depth, and a bit of the curtain behind the psychology of what went on is understood. I‘ve always wondered what the German people thought and how the events lead to one tragedy after another. This books helps you understand.

Very detailed journey of one Jewish lady‘s tragic life through the holocaust. Definitely makes you feel fortunate nowadays!

I really enjoyed the true story of Edith a Jew, married to a Nazi officer.

This was an interesting story that would have benefited from addt'l editing. The story of a young Jewish woman surviving Nazi Germany, in increasingly difficult situations. Beer is forced into (slave) labor. Ultimately, she meets & marries a Nazi. She survives the war by using her wits, & often sheer luck.
Beer does a good job showing people as neither wholly good nor wholly evil.
Interesting, but despite the material this book left me unmoved.

This is our February book club pick. Very elegantly written. Edith Hahn Beer‘s ability to recall detail is extraordinary and makes for a very compelling, heartbreaking read. She was one incredible woman! #februarybookclub2018 #halfwaydone

The Nazi Officer's Wife is one of the most profound memoirs I've read in awhile. This brave woman is alive simply by pure luck. It's because of luck that she managed to make fortunate connections during the war that she was able to survive. It helped that she was also a pretty face and smart as a whip ;)

Can't join #LitsyPartyofOne tonight (my brother's in town for the weekend so the whole family's going out for dinner), but I did finish this book earlier today. A very stressful read as Edith, a Jew pretending to be Aryan, was constantly on edge for fear of discovery. Sadly, an extremely relevant book to our time--lots of discussion of how people just accepted Nazi policy because the Reich's actions improved their quality of life.

I started this one before the election, but now so many of her words feel timely and doubly haunting as I've been reading the last couple of days. I've had to remove myself from social media because it's been so frightening this past week. 😞

Really enjoyed this book. And there is a kindle deal going on!
