Take Me With You | Andrea Gibson
62 posts | 26 read | 38 to read
For readers of Rupi Kaur (Milk and Honey) and Atticus (Love Her Wild), a book small enough to carry with you, with messages big enough to stay with you, from one of the most quotable and influential poets of our time. Andrea Gibson explores themes of love, gender, politics, sexuality, family, and forgiveness with stunning imagery and a fierce willingness to delve into the exploration of what it means to heal and to be different in this strange age. Take Me With You, illustrated throughout with evocative line drawings by Sarah J. Coleman, is small enough to fit in your bag, with messages that are big enough to wake even the sleepiest heart. Divided into three sections (love, the world, and becoming) of one liners, couplets, greatest hits phrases, and longer form poems, it has something for everyone, and will be placed in stockings, lockers, and the hands of anyone who could use its wisdom.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Gibson delivers a quick yet powerful read that includes some poetry from their previous works. Their poetry isn‘t for everyone, and there were parts that I couldn‘t relate to. Overall, this was a lovely read.

Trying to read this one for a challenge, and it‘s just not grabbing me. I love pithy sayings and poetry that makes me think, but this doesn‘t seem to be the thing for me.

WanderingBookaneer I am hating it. 6mo
VanChocStrawberry Yeah, I bailed. I mean, I still have it, but I‘m just not feeling it at all. :/ 6mo

I told myself when I entered the library that I wasn‘t going to get anything. As you can see, I failed gloriously. Can‘t wait to read this! It will be my first experience with their work. :D

I love Andrea Gibson!! This collection of their poetry was similar to Milk and Honey, which I didn‘t particularly care for. This book, however really struck a cord with me and I know I will pick it up again and again. Now I just need to get ahold of their other books; I‘ve read 2 but I think there are 3 more out there!

Hello from my therapy office 👋🏼 reading a collection of poetry by a non-binary writer.

What poetry have you been reading lately? What's on your tbr? Any coming out this year you're super excited about? 📖

Super short but powerful read. If there had been just a bit more content or heft to the poems, this would have been a five star read. As it stands, it is poignant and funny and strong, and it left me wanting more.

This is a small collection of short poems, but they pack quite a punch. Gibson will be visiting a bookstore near me soon, and I can‘t wait to hear some of their new work!

Gibson created a gorgeous, honest work. They combined art and words to create moving pieces that, I think, anyone regardless of gender, orientation, race, etc. can connect with.

#PrinceOfJuly Day 13: #TakeMeWithU indeed, a collection of poems written by Andrea Gibson. Fats Suela, one of the GatheringBooks ladies shared an excerpt from this powerful book:
“And all they know of
hate is that it couldn‘t
beat the love out of
me.”

Today‘s #libraryhaul they were all on hold for me except one, the Miles Morales one. I had already renewed it the 15 time limit, but they let me return it and take it out again. Which one should I start with? I #blameitonlitsy I picked all these out looking at posts on here, lol. Soooo much to read!!! Soooo little time and energy. I hope you guys are having a great weekend!! 😊👍❤️📚😎🌞

This is a small collection of poetry, written by Andrea Gibson a lesbian author. Much of her struggles I don't relate to but I still found some of her work beautiful and lovely.

This collection of poetry was so powerful! Gibson reflects on love, pain, politics and their own non-binary gender path. I will definitely be re-reading this one! #queerbooks #nonbinarybooks

Peddler410 I‘ll have to look into this. I‘m reading The 57 Bus right now from the library. My daughter, 9, spotted it on the book store shelf and asked a question. When I told her Sasha doesn‘t think of themself as boy or girl, she just nodded, no big deal. I‘m spending this month reading only LGBTQ titles — fiction and non-fiction so I can have a better knowledge base. 2y

I have a lot of love for a lot of humans I don‘t get to know very well, but this one... this one gets more than most. I‘ve seen them perform live three times. Tonight I‘d thought to ask them to sign my copy of their book that I bought in Laguna Beach, but my people were ready to get food and see my new tarot deck so I skipped the merch/signing line and, I‘m glad. I‘m glad I chose being present over revisiting where I was when I read their book.
