Had a birthday, went on vacation, bought books.

I read this and all I have to say is solid poetry. You can tell that this woman's struggle eventually blew up with her own power.

Yet another poetry collection in the vein of Milk and Honey and Neon Soul: cathartic, readable, and tackling love, lust, trauma, womanhood, and healing. If you like those, you will like this. This one is more sexual and full of vivid imagery. TW for toxic sexual relationships and vivid sexual imagery. Robinson tackles mental illness, blackness, body image, abusive relationships, and desire. She ends on a note of self-love and healing. 3.5/5 stars.

Poetry is one of those things I either like or not, this one is definitely falling in the like category. Each word paints a picture of emotions that just hits you right in the gut.

Today has been an emotionally exhausting day so I‘m gonna settle in for the night with some poetry and Bob‘s Burgers.

I loved the femininity of this book. Lots of new poetry books are black/white/grey, this one popped right out at me with its lovely pink. Inside are some truly beautiful poems full of heartache, lust, and love. I finished this in a night, couldn‘t put it down.

These poems are the sort of poems that will linger with me for a while. They are vulnerable. They ache. They love too much and receive too little in return. Still, there is power in them, power in naming the pain, power in sharing it and in giving voice to life's cuts and gaping wounds. K.Y. Robinson has written a sort of guidebook for survival, reaching out her hand and encouraging others to rise up with her like Phoenixes from the ashes.

I guess I've become immune to this subgenre. At first I was annoyed at these confessionals masquerading as poetry, but I've come to acknowle the catharsis it offers the writer and its readers.

These poetry collections scare me. I hope I find some gems.

I really loved her poems. I'm picky with poetry but I manage to read most in one sitting (another feat I don't do ever). Fans of Amanda Lovelace and Rupi will love this collection.

Another amazing poetry collection. Never cared for poetry until lately.
I highly recommend trying this out along with milk and honey & the princess saves herself in this one.

Absolutely beautiful book.
