The Adventures of Robin Hood
The Adventures of Robin Hood | Roger Lancelyn Green

Puffin Pixels is a new collection of classics featuring pixelated, 8-bit cover artwork. For older readers nostalgic for video and computer games of the past, to kids looking for something a bit edgier on their bookshelf, Puffin Pixels will add a sophisticated, yet fresh, flair to the canon. Including tales of such classic heroes as Robin Hood and King Arthur, to swashbuckling adventures like Treasure Island, this is a grouping of literature that packs a punch! Robin Hood, champion of the poor and opponent of the Sheriff of Nottingham, takes refuge in the Sherwood Forest and outwits his enemies with daring and panache.

@batsy Here's a closer view of my Robin Hood bookmark, together with a set of a whole band of merry persons 😊 Now all I need is to find a book series focusing on each different member of the band so I can match up the bookmarks as I read 🤓

LeahBergen Gah!! I‘m so jealous! 💚 2y
bibliothecarivs I collect Robin Hood stuff. These are amazing 😍 2y

My only Robin Hood point of reference before the #FairyTaleReadingChallenge was the Disney film version. I enjoyed this novelization of various Robin Hood myths originally published in 1956. I liked the author‘s use of poems and prose written about the characters in past centuries at the start of each chapter. I also really liked that Maid Marian was a badass. Overall the stories were a tad violent for my taste, but I‘m glad I read it. @Charityann

ScientistSam I loved this author as a child! 3y
KatieDid927 @ScientistSam I read today that he formed the Inklings with Tolkien and Lewis! I should check out more of his stuff. 3y

A firm favourite from my childhood. As an adult I liked reading the author‘s note explaining how he put together the retelling. Now I want to read Ivanhoe again!

This retelling was honestly pretty boring, the entire middle portion was basically the same chapter over and over again just with Robin coming across a new person. I love the tales of Robin Hood but there was just no life in this version, it was bland and boring.

Sweetkokoro @TheAromaofBooks Book 10 on my #bookspinbingo board. I‘m tryin to get in some last minute books haha. But I know for sure I won‘t be getting any bingos this month. 4y

It‘s another stack of (mostly) fantasy books for this weeks edition of #unreadandontheshelf

I‘m really looking forward to both Robin Hood and King Arthur.

This book was mostly a collection of short stories that were based on interpretations of older writings. It was fun and entertaining, but I felt a lacking from the format that made it hard to really get into a good flow of the story

I finished a reread of the Adventures of Robin Hood last night. It‘s a short enough read and it always feels exciting to read about places I know and live. I‘m afraid it didn‘t lift my slump though... I picked up the Hobbit for a reread but have found it hard to sit down and start it (my little one is poorly). I might try something classical or a nonfiction. What are you reading? #bibliophile #bookaddict #robinhood #booklover #bookblogger

JazzFeathers I've seen you said you are very much into Tolkien at the moment. I know it isn't a light read, but l'm reading the History of Middle Earth at the moment with a couple of other Littens. We are currently reading Lays of Beleriand and it is surprisingly good. Join us at #YearOfTolkien if you feel like it 😀 6y
Sophoclessweetheart @JazzFeathers Thank you so much dear. That‘s so kind. Unfortunately in the histories I‘m only on book two so far myself. But thank you so much. If I manage to catch up I‘ll definitely join you x 6y

Going to try and lift my slump with Robin Hood. I‘ve been talking a lot with people recently about my love for local legend, Robin Hood and national legend, King Arthur and it‘s made me want to revisit them. 💁🏼‍♀️🖤 Have you read any tales of Robin Hood? This is my favourite edition. I think the cover is adorable and Roger Lancelyn Green weaves an excellent story. 🌳 #robinhood #legends #bibliophile #bookaddict #booklover #bookblogger

#UmaThurman was Maid Marian alongside Patrick Bergin as my favorite Robin Hood. Except for Cary Elwes I think ☺️. #LyricalApril

Cinfhen I agree, #Uma as Maid Marian was good casting 💚💚💚 7y
TobeyTheScavengerMonk I love this version too! Kind of got swallowed up by Prince of Thieves when it came out, but this one was superior. 7y

I've honestly never seen an #UmaThurman movie, but she was in the 1991 version of Robin Hood, and I'm always up for a Robin Hood adaptation. #LyricalApril

Cinfhen I can see her as Maid Marian...good casting 💚nice choice! 7y

Adventure, excitement and bashing of crowns! I love this version of the Robin Hood stories (minus the last two chapters), and my daughters loved it too. As lady role models go, it's hard to beat Green's version of Maid Marion. • Read my full review: http://bit.ly/2aV5zfh
