Pickpick

Wow! This book is nonstop inspiration, from techniques to projects to background information on people and fibres and so much more. Recommended classic patterns to try. Recommendations to get out of your comfort zone. Lists of novels and movies that feature knitting. Museums around the world that feature textiles. Workshop and other travel opportunities. I will likely get this book out from the library again. #knittersoflitsy

Unexpected connection between concurrent reads: tagged book has an image of Penelope at her weaving: Romare Bearden‘s The Return of Ulysses (Smithsonian).

PurpleTulipGirl I get so much satisfaction from checking things off of those lists. Checking off doing a steek was particularly gratifying. 4y
Lindy @PurpleTulipGirl I haven‘t yet made something with a steek but it‘s definitely on my own life list. #knittersofLitsy 4y
PurpleTulipGirl It was equal parts terrifying and exhilarating. 4y

Lindy @PurpleTulipGirl What did you steek? Was it a cardigan? 4y
PurpleTulipGirl Yes, a lopapeysa. And it was the first sweater I finished, too. I only did it because I had a new knitting group and they were doing it as a KAL. 4y
Lindy @PurpleTulipGirl I have been enamoured of lopi style yarn lately. Made myself two sweaters from it and my next project is a cardigan with soft spun wool for my sweetie. I don‘t feel ready to try steeking yet... but soon. Are you on ravelry? 4y
PurpleTulipGirl I am! Same name as here. 4y

The moral of my ode is this:
beauty is twice beauty,
and what is good is doubly good
when it is a matter of two socks
made of wool in winter.
—Pablo Neruda (translated by Robert Bly)

LisaJo My mom used to do this. She was quite a talented knitter and crocheter. Me…not so much. (edited) 6y

#riotgrams #afavouritehobby besides reading and buying books, I love to knit. I taught myself when I was 29. I'm taking advantage of the summer off by trying to knit up some of my enormous yarn stash. I am not currently expecting but that is a baby blanket I have been knitting.
