That bottom book is my nemesis.
That bottom book is my nemesis.
I love this series. Supposedly this is the last book. This is book 11.

I'm totally in love with this book. Steampunk WWI is how the author referred to it. We're currently waiting for an orange line T train.
My current book bestie wandered through the TD Garden this evening. 🖤💚 Boston
Today my book bestie and I are catching some sun on the train.
This book is so freaking interesting. The author gives detail of working for Salomon Brothers in the 1980s right as they were at the apex but about to fall apart. My co-op somehow snuck this into her development reading.
#BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks
I enjoyed this quite a lot. The author facilitated an interview with the woman from Japanese Breakfast at the National Women's Conference. And it was available at the library....

Today's book bestie will be played by this gorgeous gem that I haven't started yet.
This gem is back to its old tricks (commuting). Seen here with the enormous pile of stuff I "needed" to take to the office today.
This is a great mix of fantasy and murder mystery. I'll definitely read the next book in the series.

This is an early book from this author. Totally enjoyable. Added bonus is a pet pygmy hippo living in the family's garden.

I thought this was great. And it's possible that I might be inclined to eat (even more) vegetables. I actually didn't read the blurb before starting and was under the impression that this was some sort of memoir. Wrong.

I honestly liked this a whole lot more than I expected.

Today's book bestie is this gem I took off my co-op. Seems interesting so far.
This is quite good. The author takes a historical fact and writes a story around it. It's like an adult version of Stacey Lee. It isn't cheerful, but I recommend it anyway. Read for my IRL book club.
#BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks
This was fine. But there are other spy thrillers out there that I liked a whole lot more. Like James Rollins, Steve Berry, Ted Bell. Basically glad I got this out of my holds even though it seems to have lost its hype.
#BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks
I loved this. It's like most of the author's books I have read in that you get sucked into the characters and it feels like a nice warm hug. Highly recommend.

What if the Civil War never happened in the US? And 4 states still had slavery in the modern era. That's the premise. Somewhere in the middle I started to think this was actually about sweatshops and taking advantage of cheap labor for cheap goods. But no. That's just me. Soft pick.
#BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks
This author always has something smart to say. In this she starts by relating what it was like for her as a young white woman living in San Francisco and some of her early experiences in publishing. How it is sometimes hard to have a voice and be taken seriously.

Me and my current book bestie are sitting on a train with "mechanical issues" in a snow storm. In April. Should have stayed in bed.
Today's book bestie is this tome which I need to read for a new IRL book club I am trying out. Not my favorite author. Not my favorite subject. But we try new things.
This reads like Greek tragedy. It's very clever actually. And I love the goofy cover.

Needed these. Obviously.
It was so freaking hard to pick 1 book this month. I ended up with the most unusual choice. Which is pretty on brand for me, actually.

In an effort to speed this one along, we're on the train rn. It vibrates. The train. Not the book. That would be quite unexpected.
I found this author's books in a bookstore in Scotland. They are heavy on feminism and heavy on fantasy. I definitely appreciate what she does with them.

The former leader of Planned Parenthood inspires everyone to get involved and stand up for what you believe in. She also happens to be the daughter of Ann Richards whose story is also pretty epic.

This is satire. I heard this guy on a podcast years ago. It was great but it's way too long.

I should have looked up the pub date. Oops.

I promise to stop talking about this book now. I left it on my work friend's desk. No idea where he's at but whatever. It's amazing. If you like psychological thrillers.

Today in the life of someone else's library book we have another goofy pic at North Station.
Me and this library book that doesn't belong to me are officially besties. We go everywhere together.
Don't blow my cover but I just borrowed this off a friend that wants to talk about it. It's not due yet but there's a 1250 person hold list. So skipping the line. Also he must trust me a lot.
This is an Agatha Christie style murder mystery on a train. And it's fantastic. I liked her other book (The Chateau) but imo this was better.

I honestly thought I would like this more than I actually did. It's set in Italy. There are ghosts. There's exorcism and other questionable activities involving the church. There are catacombs. It has all of the right ingredients but the end result was a little bland.
#BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks
#Aardvark @AardvarkBookClub
This is so freaking funny. But maybe not quite as funny as the first one. Definitely do the audio.
#BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks
One of my friends had to stop reading this because he couldn't take all of the racism. As in, we live in Boston so being reminded of how gross this is was a bit much. And the homophobia. Because this was set in the 70s, you'd hope it was better but Boston is pretty well known for this situation. If you liked Mystic River, and you can get through the halfway point, this really is very well written.
#DoubleSpin @TheAromaofBooks
I cannot even with this book. It's never going to end....
This is a good mystery. It is not my favorite Lucy Foley and I do not need all of the French swear words and phrases translated (please. Google exists.) Otherwise this is quite great.
