I laughed out loud several times while listening to this book. Tessa Dare has a gift for clever conversation and situational comedy pieced in amongst genuine problems and real emotion.

I‘ve started my next audiobook. I was going to read Beauty Like the Night, which is the latest release, but I like to read series in order, so I started at the beginning! I was surprised at first that the narrator did not have a British accent, but the heroine is French and she moves between the various accents well. I‘m really liking it so far. #romantsy #historical #audiobook.

I love old books, especially when I can justify my purchases as research. Here‘s one of my latest, picked up on a trip to Boston. It‘s full of illustrations of the region that is the setting for the book I‘m currently writing. The binding is so beautiful, even if a little worn. #rarebooks

I loved this as much as the first in the series. These books are so masterfully plotted and layered. I love Sherry Thomas‘s romances but this series is an entirely different thing—a slowly unfolding mystery that doesn‘t reveal its full complexity until the end. Can‘t wait for the next installment!

Masterful. I am a fan of Ms. Thomas's romances and was intrigued to hear she was taking on something different with this new series. Her take on a female Sherlock Holmes was EVERYTHING. It unfolded naturally and the precision with which it was plotted didn't come through until the end. Very well done and expertly performed by Kate Reading.

Nerd Reveal: My daughter and I are excited to geek out over this book 🤓 #mathisfun

Journalist Tess is held hostage for what she knows about a terrorist group, and fate makes French legionnaire Flynn her partner when he's trapped as well. The action was non-stop but the best part was the romance. It's quick, but the intensity of what they endure together keeps it from feeling like insta-love. By the end, I thought I would full-on ugly cry if Tess & Flynn didn't end up safe and together. #romantsy
