Loved this book! I wish I would have read it prior to reading the Six of Crows duology lol, but I hadn‘t realized this trilogy existed. Trying to get through the books before starting the Netflix Series. Because of what I already knew about the lore, I wasn‘t shocked by the plot, but it was entertaining nonetheless. Super easy read, devoured it in a night. I‘m a sucker for the world building. 5/5⭐️

I‘m a fan of Gyasi‘s work for sure. Coming from the perspective of an ex-Catholic pursuing a career in stem, I found myself relating to Gifty in a profound way. Typically I don‘t read books with religious themes because they often trigger me in certain ways, but I picked this up because I loved her book Homegoing. I think this book was beautifully written. It definitely brought my trauma to the surface though, so overal 4.8/5⭐️

This book was an incredibly well-woven and well-researched take on an age-old story. While I think I enjoyed Miller‘s more recent book, Song of Achilles, more, I did have a very good time reading this book and will likely read it again in the future. Makes me want to pick up the Odyssey lol 4.75/5⭐️

It‘s taken me a long time to get through this book, not at all because of difficulty, but because I was so bored the whole time. I feel like if I were less versed in feminist writing and were just learning about and getting in to modern feminist ideas, this may have been a better read. There was no nuance whatsoever, and it relied heavily on cliches. 3/5⭐️

Devoured this book yet again. I think the writing and the character arc in this book was the best yet. Absolutely phenomenal. Heart wrenching and hopeful so so spicy. My favorite of the series is a toss up between this and A Court of Mist and Fury, they‘re neck and neck. 5/5⭐️

Anyone else get just a little annoyed when all of your copies of a series are in paperback or hardback, and just one is out of place? A family member bought me the tagged book knowing that I owned all the rest of them, but they got it in hardback, while the rest of my collection is paperback. I do greatly appreciate the sentiment and I‘m happy they thought of me, but now it just sticks out like a sore thumb on my shelf lol

Action-packed and thrilling. My sentiment still stands that the writing could be better, but I was flipping through the last 100 pages at the speed of light. Daring and sexy and captivating throughout. 4.9/5⭐️

Much like the first book in this series, the writing isn‘t incredibly, but holy shit is this story captivating. I think I finished this book faster than I did the first, which is very telling considering this book is twice the size. I‘m wholly addicted to this series and will probably finish all of them within the next week

Caroline2 I really enjoyed this series too. Second book was my fav. 👍 2y

I absolutely devoured this book. I picked it up Saturday night and didn‘t put it down until Monday evening. It‘s been a while since I was so gripped by a story and I am very excited to dig further into the series. One thing I will say is that it‘s not the most eloquent book ever written, and I like most of the side characters more than I like the protagonist narrator, but she‘s growing on me. Still 5/5⭐️ for how much of a page turner it was

This book took me a couple of chapters to really get into it, but I was whole-heartedly in love with it by the end. It‘s elegant, thoughtful, and witty in a way that I did not expect. All of the characters were vivid and the story was lively. 5/5⭐️

Beautifully written re-telling and re-imagining of the age-old story. This book had me audibly sobbing through the last couple of chapters. Definitely a new favorite!
