His Own Where | June Jordan

Pickpick

Fist piece I‘ve read by June Jordan. Known for her poetry this novella still displays a strong poetic vibe. We follow Buddy the protagonist of the story who is basically alone because his mother has returned to Barbados and his father is dying in hospital. In spite of this he tries to live lifeto the fullest and is challenged by manypeople and situations. Written in Black Englishit may take you a few pages to get the rhythm but it‘s worth reading.

Read this adorable book today. I enjoyed both of the short stories and all the illustrations. This is the first book I read by Rainbow Rowell and I definitely need to read more of her books.

Bit of a rubbish end to the year. I tried to get some books in to reach my GR goal but didn't quite make it. I enjoyed these graphic novels though

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Almost Midnight was the perfect closure to my 2019 reading year.

The addition of Simini Blocker's illustrations to this special edition was such a treat and added a delightful, much appreciated new dimension to these charming stories.

Rainbow Rowell continues to be a favorite author; her ability to write believable characters and natural dialogue one of my favorite aspects of her writing.

This book was amazing. Highly recommended. Very realistic and informative about mental illnesses. You can imagine what the main character is going through and is feeling. The characters are very well written and so is the book itself. I don‘t really know what else to say so I‘m just going to post this. If any of you read this, hopefully you like it as much as I did.

Midnights is a wonderful short story #SetOnNewYearsEveDay. It follows Noel and Mags at every New Year #celebration over 5 years as their relationship evolves. It's funny and sweet- pure Rainbow Rowell. #AuldLangReads #NewYearNewYou

@Librarybelle I‘m afraid I‘m still sitting on the book I should‘ve sent you on the 20th. 😬 I haven‘t read it yet, but I‘m hoping to this week while I‘m still on vacation. I will have it in the mail to you next week! And @MrsGreen, I received Flower a couple of weeks ago and failed to let you know. Thank you for always being so prompt... unlike me. 😂 #thebreakfastbookclub #groupA

Librarybelle Yay...thanks! 4w
MrsGreen I have another but I figured you wouldn‘t be in a rush to get it 😉😂 4w
erinreads @MrsGreen Another? Wow. I‘m just glad the group is moving again. We went a few months with nothing! You can send me whenever because then if I get to it early I can send a few on to @Librarybelle at once to stay on time. 😂 4w

My Christmas tree is still up, folks.

Yup. I'm one of many people (I'm sure) who holds on to that cozy, nostalgic feeling the holiday season brings for as long as she possibly can. And yes... I've considered seasonal ornaments... but I digress.

Above, for your (and @BookNAround's ?) consideration, are my #lastfirst reads for 2019 and 2020 respectively: the tagged book to end the current year and "Out of the Easy" to begin a new one.

charl08 You're ok until the 6th jan (at least, according to folks here!) 4w
Sace I think I left lights out until February last year. Winter is just a tough time and lights bring me joy. 4w
TheDaysGoBy I usually leave my stuff up until about mid January or so. I live in an apartment though so unless you come visit me you don‘t really notice I still have it up 😂 4w
Soubhiville I usually take the tree down on New Year‘s Day. 4w
BookNAround Everything always looks so bare once you take the decorations down, doesn‘t it? 4w
