Sometimes I read remixes of classics. Most of the time they don't work. Holy cow does this one work. And Zoboi adds to PP by introducing gentrification to the storyline. I loved every second reading this. 10/10 #streetlit #yafic #gorgeousbooks

Marin‘s thoughts and feelings here hit a little too close to home here. I spent almost two years in a deep depression, dealing with anxiety so bad that I sometimes couldn‘t convince myself to get out of bed... I hope her world starts getting brighter.

Gossip Girl meet Uglies is what this story boils down to. I was confused about when they characters were in the tower and when they weren't because there was no real "we've left the tower" description and also xenperheidren prolly could have used an abbreviation bc it stops the flow of the words. 5 ⭐️! I adored the narrator and Henry's best friends are even better: Murray, the crazy Aussie outback survivor wannabe, and Lola, the Haitian/Chinese lesbian princess, are a constant source of humor, quick wit, brutal honesty, and friendly comforts. The book is meta and self-aware, filled with pop culture references, as well as careful dissections of its own characters. Full review on my blog if you're interested!
