Jess7 This one is ok, but the SERIAL podcast was AWESOME! 6y
Jess7 I plan to read this one, but haven‘t yet (edited) 6y
Jess7 I liked Helter skelter so I would read more by the same author (prosecutor) 6y
Jess7 For the OJ case I read without a doubt, his name is Ron, Faye resnick‘s book that was released right before the trial - where the Brentwood hello comes from, If I did it (OJ‘s book - proceeds go to the Goodmans and this one: (edited) 6y
JaclynW @Jess7 I second the SERIAL podcast! So good! 6y
Jess7 I plan to read this one too 6y
Jess7 I also want to read this one bc I loved Making a Murderer 6y
JaclynW I read this year's ago. It happened in the city I live in. 6y
JaclynW Fascinating. Disturbing. Jon Krakauer. 6y
Jess7 I want to read this one 6y
Jess7 I want to read this one too - I listened to a podcast about it on Generation Why 6y
MinDea @Jess7 do you want to pick a true crime for our next #LitsyBuddyRead or do Hunger? 6y
MinDea Have you read moat of the ones you recommended? 6y
Jess7 I‘ve read all of the ones I tagged that I didn‘t say “I want to read” and I own all of the ones I‘ve listed if I haven‘t read them 6y
MinDea @DGRachel I think I have Monster of Florence. I didn't know it was true crime! 6y
Jess7 Not sure. We can decide soon. 6y
Jess7 This isn‘t exactly true crime per se but it is about Scientology and I want to read it. I bought it recently as a kindle daily deal. 6y
MinDea @Jess7 scientology fascinates me. That would be interesting! 6y
Jess7 I‘m sure I‘m forgetting others I‘ve read, but those are some. If you haven‘t read Helter Skelter or Waiting to be Heard you definitely should. 6y
MinDea @Jess7 I have Helzer Skelter but haven't read it... 6y
DGRachel @MinDea It's about a series of murders committed by an Italian serial killer. I found the workings of the Italian justice system to be fascinating (and more than a little terrifying, if I'm honest). I had to buy a second copy because I accidentally left my book on a plane at the end of a long, late flight! (edited) 6y
JamieArc Ditto on Monster of Florence. Great true crime book but make sure you read the commentary at the end on the judicial system and the Amanda Knox case. I found it fascinating. It's one of my top recommendations for true crime books! 6y
IamIamIam I was appalled by this trial and the documentaries that went with it. 6y
cathysaid On my TBR so can't really recommend yet... 6y
Cinfhen @Mdargusch should know a bunch!!! I think there is a #TrueCrime group on Litsy!!! Also @Kaye reads ALOT of true crime 6y
Sweettartlaura I second Helter Skelter. It was my first audiobook of this year, & it was enthralling, even though it was long. I learned a lot I didn‘t know . 6y
Sweettartlaura @Jess7 Read Going Clear at/around the same time you read Beyond Belief. It‘s the adult take while Beyond Belief is the story of a girl growing up in Scientology. They complement each other very well. 6y
swishandflick It's been a while since I've read this, but I remember being totally sucked into this and sleeping with lights on 6y
swishandflick Or this one 6y
MinDea @Cinfhen we are reading American Fire in December for #botmBuddyRead! 6y
JenlovesJT47 I definitely third Helter Skelter 🙋🏻 IMO the best true crime novel out there. Beyond that, I've been reading a lot about Laci Peterson lately. I would recommend her mother's book, For Laci, and Amber Frey's book Witness. Also, Zodiac by Robert Graysmith. I'm sure there are many more I'm forgetting! 6y
MinDea Alright, alright! I'll read Helter Skelter!! 😂😂 6y
MinDea @JenlovesJT47 Lacy Peterson could be interesting. What have you read on Jack the Ripper? 6y
JenlovesJT47 I haven't read much about Jack the Ripper but I've watched a lot of stuff about it. Definitely something worth reading about! I'd also recommend anything about Lizzie Borden. Another interesting case from around the same time period. 6y
MinDea @JenlovesJT47 have you read the young adult book about the girl who loves Jack the Ripper...not true crime but ya historical fiction? 6y
Cathythoughts Loved In Cold Blood 6y
Kaye Thanks for the tag @cinfhen @mindea If you want to take a look through the books I‘ve posted, tons of them are true crime. Some that are really good are (edited) 6y
DocBrown I don‘t know if it‘s, strictly speaking, True Crime, but it is true, and about a crime, and an amazing read: 6y
Cinfhen My bookclub just read Helter Skelter, it‘s phenomenal BUT it‘s VERY detailed almost to the point of suffocation....just set aside some time.... 6y
JenlovesJT47 No I haven't read that one yet but I know what you're talking about. I checked it out from the library one time but didn't get to finish it before I had to take it back. But it looks really good! Might have to request some books about Jack the Ripper! Also, do you have Amazon prime or kindle unlimited? They have a ton of true crime books available on there, some short ones that are worth reading. 6y
Mdargusch @Kaye is the one I look to for recommendations. In Cold Blood and Helter Skelter are the two classics but I just read these three and liked them. 6y
Kaye Thank you @Mdargusch We true crime readers need to stick together. It‘s not everyone‘s cup of tea. ☠️👻 6y
MinDea @mdhughes72 I have Ghettoside. Will move it up on my list to read! @Jess7 could be a good #botmBuddyRead pick.... 6y
