I‘ve been hearing about this series for years and was drawn to the concept, so I‘m glad I finally got around to reading the first one, but I‘m not inclined to continue. Honestly I‘m a bit unclear on what the message is re rebelling against vs accepting traditional roles in this community. I‘d be interested to know the typical demographics of the readership of this series. 👇🏼

IndoorDame I could see it being deeply meaningful to girls like the main character, but this book is HIGHLY unlikely to get into their hands. It could be read by young Modern Orthodox girls and might be meaningful to them, so that‘s probably who I‘d recommend it to. 3mo

I used the video where Mac Barnett and Jon Klassen read their version of BGG so that I could take a break. But I love reading the story. It's so fun to read trip trap trip trap trip trap and modify your voice for each goat. I read the Galdone version to the younger students. I'm always amazed by how many students come to elementary school never having read some 398.2s. Nominated for the 2024 #WCCPBA

Tamra My favorite as a toddler! I had the edition on the left. 😍 My grandpa read it ad nauseam to me. 5mo
mandarchy @Tamra you will love the new version, it's slightly more "mature". Menu items fly over the kid's heads. 5mo
Tamra @mandarchy how fun & imaginative! 5mo
Aimeesue That is such a great video! I rewatch it once in a while because it makes me smile 😊 5mo
mandarchy @Aimeesue I just love them both! 5mo

“who's that tripping over my bridge“

This story uses repetition which is a great literary element for young kids when they first begin to read. I also think this fairy tale is a classic for kids because they love reenacting it and saying the troll's words in their own way.

This story is one of Grimm's classic fairy tales. It is about three goats all named Gruff who have to travel over a bridge guarded by a troll in order to get to the other side to eat. It teaches children not to be greedy as they see the troll want the biggest billy goat but in the end he did not get any.

I enjoyed reading this version of the well-known story about the three billy goats gruff. I have read other, more modern, versions of this story in the past. In regard to this specific retelling of the story, I enjoyed the differentiated depiction of the troll. I found Brown's depiction of the troll to be very interesting with the brown hue, long nose, and jagged teeth. I feel as if young children would find great enjoyment in this book.

Pickpick

This story is an example of a fairytale (having originated in the Norwegian culture) which is a traditional literature form. There were four main characters that interacted in order to tell this story. Those included the three brother goats and the troll who lived under the bridge. In this story the three goats worked together in order to outsmart the troll and avoid being eaten. The moral of this story is that one should not be greedy.
