3⭐️ I really tried to understand what this book was about and while it was an interesting read, I really didn‘t understand it. I am really interested to hear what others in this #Canadianlit #bookclub I am a part of will think of the book. #2025 #fiction #sciencefiction #speculative #historicalfiction #fiction #canadian #mexico

This was a fast-paced and intriguing story of Beth, a scientist trying to keep her secret time travel project afloat after the death of her husband Colson, her partner and fellow scientist. Facing increasing pressure from the company owner, Beth makes multiple attempts in a row, traveling to moments in her own past with devastating results. Definitely recommend for fans of Blake Crouch.

I‘m a sucker for a time travel story, especially a thriller type. Beth is a single working mom. Her husband Colson has died in an accident and she has taken on his role as Guinea pig 🐹 in a series of time travel experiments that take her consciousness back to the most traumatic moments in her life. Of course there‘s trouble brewing with the super rich older man who is financing the experiments. Does Beth really understand the consequences? 👍🐉

I really enjoyed this book. It‘s a fun story about the hubris of science and risks of its marriage with capitalism.

So my normal bookclub which took place yesterday had to read a Kate Atkinson. I just feel she‘s way above me. We read another book by her and I didn‘t know how to feel. A guy next to me might as well have given his doctoral thesis on it and I just sat there thinking-am I stupid? So instead of reading another Atkinson I went with this book for a mashed up horror scifi group. I didn‘t care for it or the bookclub. The grass isn‘t always greener 👇🏼

Another book I was inspired to read after seeing the author at TX Book Fest.
5 women are cloned after being murdered by a serial killer. This is from the point of view of Louis, who was killed while running in her city‘s park.
An interesting aspect was that Louis had a daughter who was just 3 months old when she was killed, and her clone‘s relationship with her daughter.
The ending was unexpected for me, in a good way.

Started today. Love time travel stories.
