Review to come but I am so so grateful that I had a bunch of errands to run to finish the last 2 hours of this one. If this is representative of Steel‘s writing, then I can definitely say I‘m not a fan. But it satisfies an important challenge & a lot of time for #scarathlon #teamslaughter #screamathon #sbooktober #gothtober #ripreadathon #trickortreadathon #cocoturns50 #readyourway #fallreadathon #nameinthetitle #ghostathon #gothicreadathon

This is not going to be a good week for #scarathlon points. A lot going on. Maybe I‘ll be able to make it up over the weekend. See, I‘m even slow posting my totals for yesterday! 😶 Sorry #TeamSlaughter teammates! I‘ll try to pick up the pace! @Clwojick

Clwojick It‘s all good! I‘ve been reading a decent amount, but I haven‘t been tracking which books qualify for which readathons. I‘m going to be sorry on Sunday when I‘m tracking my points 🤣 4y

It‘s time to rant about this book again. I‘m 4+ hours into it. Honestly can anyone be so entirely perfect? The Liechtenstein princess has graduated from college and looking for something to dedicate her time and energy to. Having no experience whatsoever other than leading a royal life & college, she‘s the “perfect” volunteer at a bloody terrorist event & teaching aids education in Africa. She magically solves everyone‘s problems. Really?? 🙄

KVanRead Ugh 🤦🏻‍♀️ But love a good rant!😊 4y
AlaMich I‘m sure finding books set in Liechtenstein is no easy feat! (edited) 4y

Texreader @AlaMich Agreed. You can succumb and get this audiobook and do what I‘m doing, listening to it at a pretty fast clip. 🤣 It helps with all the repetition and eye-rolling perfection of this little princess who can do no wrong. 4y

Began this one and listened to 2 hours on the drive to see my parents. Whew, it is boring so far and if this author can repeat something 10 times she‘s going to jump at the chance. It‘s my first, and probably my only, Steel I ever hope to read. But it works for #readingeurope2020 #Liechtenstein and for some of the readathons for #scarathlon, which I will try to figure out tomorrow. #teamslaughter

ravenlee I remember my mom used to read Steel books, not all of them but pretty consistently. She quit when a book came out in the mid-‘90s and some character had twins and named them Bill and Hillary. Mom just said, “nope, I‘ve had enough of this ridiculousness . Recycled plots and pop-culture pandering.” 4y
booksandsympathy I think I read one of her books back when I was a teenager 4y
BarbaraBB Kudos for trying Danielle Steel!! 4y

Clwojick “ if this author can repeat something 10 times she‘s going to jump at the chance “ 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 4y
Librarybelle Yeah - I have tried to read her books that have been published in the last 20 years, and I completely agree with you! 4y
Texreader @ravenlee @booksandsympathy I laughed out loud when I got both of your comments! Yep, one Steel book will be enough for me. I‘m back on the road for about five hours tomorrow so I can get a big chunk down, so long as it doesn‘t put me to sleep. 🤣 4y
Texreader @BarbaraBB Indeed! Not only am I broadening my knowledge of Europe, I‘m learning new-to-me authors. 4y
Texreader @Clwojick Loved your reaction. I swear Chapters 1 and 2‘were just carbon copies with a thesaurus. I‘m only starting chapter 4 (long chapters) so we will see if the same is true for 3 and 4. But even within chapters, you‘re beat with a stick with the same information. This really is a whole new style for me. Slow Death by Repetition 4y
Texreader @Librarybelle Sometimes you just have to know what all the hype is about. But I‘m still left wondering in this case. 4y

I spent this evening catching up on all my points (a little over 2000 as of yesterday). Today I listened to another hour of Turn of the Screw, and then 2 hours to the tagged book on my drive to see my parents & rest of day visiting with the parentals.

#fallreadathon #nameinthetitle #gothicreadathon
#scarathlon #teamslaughter #screamathon #sbooktober #gothtober #ripreadathon #outstandingoctober #trickortreadathon #cocoturns50

CocoReads So organized! Great job! 4y
Clwojick Amazing! I love that you‘re using codes. I‘m running out of color options, and moving onto shapes. 😂 Probably should‘ve done it your way. 😉 I‘m working on tracking my points right now, as I finish up the last hour of my audiobook. It should be done just in time for midnight! 4y
Texreader @Clwojick I‘m wrapping up an ebook right now so I can count it tonight, too! I‘m loving visiting my parents but I am sad to lose the reading time. Fortunately I have a lot of driving early next week...which mean audiobook!! It‘s not too late to switch to coding! I keep updating mine with new readathons! It‘s so awesome so many are on the horizon. 4y

I decided to start this one for #readingeurope2020 #Liechtenstein. It will be some of the reading challenges so I will still be able to get some points for #scarathlon for #teamslaughter. So now I‘m off to do some audiocrafting.

Librarybelle Good luck! 4y

Update on Countries A to L for #readingeurope2020. I‘ll be reading my first Danielle Steele book, which should work for #Liechtenstein, which I just purchased. But it may have to wait as I‘m focusing on books this month that work for #scarathlon #teamslaughter. Several on this list will work I think!

Librarybelle Bravo! 4y
Crazeedi Great job 4y
BarbaraBB I finally found one country for which we read the same book. Just one! It‘s Belarus! 4y
Texreader @BarbaraBB That‘s impossible! 🤣 Id love to see your list! 4y
BarbaraBB I‘ll post it one day soon. I have to update my spreadsheet! 4y

Tales of Liechtenstein Then and Now | James Foster Robinson

Panpan

Whatever you do, don‘t read this book... even if it is one of the only options for #liechtenstein for #readingeurope2020. So, I took one for the team and read it on your behalf!

Surely even if you self-publish a book you could get someone to check your spelling and grammar? (and your maths?!) All of that was appalling and as a result many of the tales and fables didn‘t even make sense.

The only saving grace was that it was short....

Librarybelle Yikes! Thanks for taking one for the team! 4y
Mrs_B That is seriously bad maths. Makes me cringe! 4y
Cinfhen Ugh!!!!! I‘m not even gonna bother 4y

TrishB Thanks Helen! 4y
TheAromaofBooks Also not sure why the author felt the need to phrase the same exact thing three times in one sentence anyway - .10 OR 10% OR 10 out of 100 (or 1 out of 100 depending on your math 😂) 4y
eraderneely This is sooooo bad 4y
squirrelbrain I know @Mrs_B - 10% is probably the easiest maths problem around! 4y
squirrelbrain @TheAromaofBooks - the whole book was very repetitious, or alternatively seemed to have chunks missing so nothing made sense. 😬 4y
wanderinglynn 😂😂😂 maths is hard. 4y
BarbaraBB Unbelievable! And you made made laugh out loud! 4y
Caroline2 Paaahaaaa!! Too funny!!! 😆 dear oh dear....! 🤦‍♀️ 4y

Pickpick

Well, now I‘m annoyed. Every blurb of this book mentions #liechtenstein, but in the book he doesn‘t actually go there...😠

Anyway, he did go to #slovenia (not for long) so I‘m counting that for #readingeurope2020!

The book was interesting, rather irreverent and amusing and not a serious travel guide. I didn‘t love the narrator though - I thought his tone was a bit monotonous, which meant he lost my attention a few times. Still a pick though.

Caroline2 That‘s annoying! 🙄 4y
Texreader Look at my tag for #Liechtenstein. I‘ve prepared a list of potential reads. I think you may have seen I loved the tagged book. So sorry the narrator didn‘t do it justice! 4y
squirrelbrain Yes, thank you @Texreader - I had a look at your list the other day so now I have some possibles! 4y
