I enjoyed this book for the most part, especially certain parts of the ending, but the first half dragged a bit and the emotional connections between characters were not developed enough for me to really feel invested in them.

Bookmail! My latest ARC from #LibraryThingEarlyReviewers. It sounds like some excellent #dystopia. I‘ll definitely be reading it in the next couple weeks. Release date is in Sept 2019. This is a #debut too 😊

Thank you @LibraryThing and @WilliamMorrowBooks for the free review copy!

AmyG Do you read and review on Library Thing? 4mo
Soubhiville @AmyG yes, but it‘s the only thing I use LibraryThing for... I actually don‘t care much for the way the rest of the site works. I prefer Goodreads and Litsy. 4mo
Soubhiville I only review my Early Reviewers books there is what I mean @AmyG 4mo

AmyG Thanks. I was curious how that worked. I, too, prefer Goodreads and Litsy. 4mo

After a bit of a slow start, I fell into this story of sexual exploration in the wake of intense loss.

Echo‘s father is suddenly gone: an accident on slick rocks on the California coast. She and her mother are sent reeling through grief, neither sure how to deal with their own or the other‘s.

When she meets a new neighbor, Echo feels an instant attraction. Learning she‘s a dominatrix only steeps her interest.

Soubhiville In looking at BDS&M, this book has more to say about the nature of love and respect than I would have expected from such a short book. It‘s not going to be for everyone, but if you are curious about that lifestyle, I think you‘ll enjoy it. 7mo

This is a gorgeous book, inside and out. The group of contributors is truly amazing (NK Jemisin, Jesmyn Ward, Tayari Jones, Morgan Jerkins...I could go on and on...), and I loved every essay. Can‘t recommend it highly enough.

This was a good read but it took me a while to understand the world and the people. Once I did, I enjoyed the story. It's an interesting idea if a little gory in places
Vaun is interesting and I enjoyed seeing his character develop and the relationship between him and Grayc. Looking forward to book 2 and hopefully learning more about AviSariel.

2.5⭐️ The first 300 pages is daily life detail, much of which goes nowhere. Sometime in the future people purchase/adopt small “people” (Littlers) from a company, and keep them as pets. Who the Littlers are, how they came to be, and fixing the issues all happens in the last 200 pages. But I still have sooo many questions about the resolution. So much detail at the beginning, so little at the end. #librarythingearlyreviewers #earlyreviewers

Finally figured out how to get my very first #librarythingearlyreviewers book on my Kindle, which means I can get to reading it tonight! (Clearly it pays to read the directions instead of thinking I can do it on my own. 🤣)

RestlessFickleBookHoarder I wish my students understood that bit about directions! 🤣 I'm glad you got it all figured out. 12mo
