It's been a bit since I've posted, but that doesn't mean I haven't been reading. :) Lately, I've been working on the goal of getting through the whole Nancy Drew series this year. These are easy reads and so much fun!! #mystery #nancydrew #readinggoal #fiction #girldetective

This was the first Nancy drew book I have read and I was pulled in! There were many moving parts in this book, so It was like solving 3 mysteries in one. I was constantly wondering what was going to happen next and how everything connected. Very fun read!

Day 27 #riotgrams #retrocovers. My Trixie Belden collection -what's left of it- are my only books with retro covers. The publication dates of these range from 1948-1971. #girldetective

"Look after this girl, Mildred. She's a menace to murderers."
A menace to murderers? I quite liked that. If I ever have a business card I shall have that motto printed on it with an image of a never-sleeping eye. #girldetective

As I first started to love reading I picked up a few Nancy Drew books and I was obsessed at around age 10! Last year I reread a few of them and they have some significant problems, in regards to race and class issues so I wouldn't want to pass them on to the kids in my life, but for 10 year old me they hold a special place in my heart as they helped move me onto a path of a lifetime reader! #lovedatage10 #17booklove

BookishMarginalia If I remember correctly, the newer reissues have been edited to deal with these issues and bring the series up to date with current attitudes. 3y
saresmoore @BookishMarginalia Yes, they have. And some of her most recently written books (The Nancy Drew Diaries) are favorites for my 8yo daughter. The legacy lives on! 3y
Christy2318 Nancy Drew is the first series I remember reading. I loved them and even now a good #girldetective story is among my favorite reads. I tried to read Nancy again not too long ago and it did not have the magic I remembered. 3y

AlaMich I've got a box full of the old yellow hardcovers in my basement. I remember being so excited to go to the bookstore when a new one came out. ❤️ Nancy! 3y
Suzze My sister and I had a complete set of the blue covered ones. They were both of our favorites! 3y
Eliza-beta I loved Nancy Drew. But agreed - I don't think they would read well for the adult me 3y
EllieDottie @BookishMarginalia @saresmoore I'm so glad! I need to read on of the new ones!!! 3y
EllieDottie @Christy2318 almost nothing has the same magic! But she's still pretty cool! 3y

"No sooner was I safely among the gravestones than a great feeling of warmth and calm contentment came sweeping over me. Life among the dead. This was where I was meant to be! What a revelation! And what a place to have it! I could succeed at whatever I chose. I could, for instance, become an undertaker. Or a pathologist. A detective, a grave digger, a tombstone maker, or even the world's greatest murderer." #girldetective
