This was the first Nancy Drew book I have read in a number of decades. Read it for #CostaRica for #ReadingTheAmericas2023 @BarbaraBB @Librarybelle

An enjoyable light mystery set in the jungles of Costa Rica where something mysterious is going on. Cue Nancy and her friends to investigate and save the day. Although not going to run out and read others in the series.

14th book read in November #Rushathon @DieAReader @Ghabi4Roses

Librarybelle I didn‘t know she went to Costa Rica! That‘s awesome! 5mo

Andrew65 @Librarybelle Amazing what you find out with a bit of research. I definitely wasn‘t aware. 5mo
TheSpineView Fantastic! 5mo
GHABI4ROSES I WAS JUST ASKING ABOUT THESE?! Should I go for it? Nancy? Hardy Boys? I have the first few of both. I know that Hardy Boys were first. 5mo
Andrew65 @GHABI4ROSES They are quick, light, fun reads based on these ones. Possibly a couple of hours reading for this book. Good for break from other reading I would impatient but I think I‘d want to intersperse them. A LOT of Nancy Drew books 😳 As a child I read more Hardy Boys than Nancy Drew. If you‘ve got them I‘d read them. 5mo
GHABI4ROSES That is exactly how I needed to see it: I have them. I will read them. Especially cus I am a chunkster person! Good interludes😘 5mo
Andrew65 @GHABI4ROSES I need to get to my Chunksters more! A goal for 2023, singularly failed on that this year. 5mo

A prince from a relatively minor royal Italian family has come to River Heights to deliver a painting to Mrs. Mahoney, a friend of the royal family. Turns out his family thinks he stole the painting and the prince is thrown in jail. Can Nancy prove he‘s innocent?

Young designer Alicia Adams opens a boutique in River Heights. When opening day comes, tons of people show up, the store window is smashed and people are injured. Later Alicia's most expensive dress is destroyed, and her store is vandalized.
Enter Nancy and Ned!! Ned Nickerson! (BF) So…. there are a lot more Drew mysteries than I thought-this one was more modern, with a computer

TheSpineView I don't remember reading any Nancy Drew with a modern setting. Must have been published more recently. 1y
TheSpineView @Eggs I had no idea! That's incredible! 1y

Andrew65 This one looks interesting. 1y
Eggs @Andrew65 I prefer the vintage Drew bc it‘s so quaint and takes me back to childhood. I hadn‘t read any Drew books until 2 years ago-there are so many to read. 14mo
Andrew65 @Eggs Just checked. 😱 175 of them! 14mo

Y‘all. This is so bad that I almost want to give it a pick for the sheer audacity. It surpassed even my low expectations.

It reads like the publisher sponsored a “write the next Nancy Drew mystery!” contest at a high school and this was the “winner”. The only other plausible explanation for this hot mess of a MG book is nepotism. But, hey, it counts for #readingtheamericas2023 #costarica 🤣🤣

AlaMich And the title doesn‘t exactly roll right off your tongue either! 🙄 1y
Librarybelle Ha! Love your review! 1y

It's been a bit since I've posted, but that doesn't mean I haven't been reading. :) Lately, I've been working on the goal of getting through the whole Nancy Drew series this year. These are easy reads and so much fun!! #mystery #nancydrew #readinggoal #fiction #girldetective

This was the first Nancy drew book I have read and I was pulled in! There were many moving parts in this book, so It was like solving 3 mysteries in one. I was constantly wondering what was going to happen next and how everything connected. Very fun read!

"Look after this girl, Mildred. She's a menace to murderers."
A menace to murderers? I quite liked that. If I ever have a business card I shall have that motto printed on it with an image of a never-sleeping eye. #girldetective
