Hortensia and Marion are neighbours in a Cape Town suburb. They have in common their age, both in their 80s, that they have achieved success in their careers, and that they are widows. But they disagree about everything.
An accident in which Hortensia breaks her leg and Marion‘s house is badly damaged brings changes in their relationship. I was hoping for more and felt a but underwhelmed 🤷🏻‍♀️.

I love snarky main characters, and Bea definitely fits that profile! When Bea and her neighbors are forced by the local judge to join a book club at the library, they have no idea they will come together to solve a murder. A crazy snowstorm and a bunch of suspects - it kind of goes along with their book club book Murder on the Orient Express. I‘ll definitely continue this series - fun read, and I‘d love to see how the ladies solve their next case.

Set in Grand Haven, MI this is a powerful story of gardening, found families, courage, and hope. The author touches on PTSD, isolation, and growth. This is the second book by Viola Shipman/Wade Rouse (the author uses his grandmother's name) I've read and he has become a must-read for me. It's also my #DoubleSpin book #Booked2023 #FeaturingNeighbors #MarchMadness @alisiakae @Cinfhen @BarbaraTheBibliophage @DieAReader @Andrew65 @TheAromaofBooks

TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!! This one is on my TBR as well! 13mo

Four suburban moms unknowingly release an evil presence while attempting to build a she-shed in one of their backyards. Even though I thought this was pretty predictable I enjoyed it and it probably would have been even better on audio. I laughed a good bit. It‘s definitely horror-lite. It would probably make a fun movie. #booked2023 #featuringneighbors

TheBookHippie Well this looks fun!!! 13mo
Cinfhen Sounds hilarious 😂 13mo
Hooked_on_books I heard about this on a podcast and put it on hold on audio several weeks ago. It sounds like fun! 13mo

Bookzombie @TheBookHippie @Cinfhen I also think she says some truthful things about being a woman and a mom (I‘m not a mom, but recognized it). In general, it‘s just fun. 13mo
Bookzombie @Hooked_on_books I look forward to your review of the audio version. 🙂 13mo
Cinfhen Moving this up my wish list!!! thanks for sharing and posting!!! 13mo

There was a lot going on in this book about inhabitants of an apartment building in a dwindling small town. It took awhile to find its footing but once it did, I was sucked into their orbit, especially that of Blandine, who finds solace from the abuse she has survived in the lives of Catholic mystics. Guntey takes a lot of chances with her writing and some of them don‘t pay off but her talent is undeniable. #tob23 #booked2023 #featuringneighbors

Megabooks I‘m excited to see what she does next. 1y
