absolutely loved this one - so much so that I kept listening to the audiobook long after my cleaning was done & made a point of making time in today's schedule so I could finish it. this book is one that is both hilarious & necessary because we need to do better & this book provides a great start 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

this is such an essential book for today's times & it's also fairly short (under 200 pages) + is both a good starting place for those who are just learning about Islamophobia & also great for those who know more about the subject as well - while most of this information was not new to me, I really appreciated seeing it all presented here & actually quite enjoyed reading this 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Riveted_Reader_Melissa I added this to my list recently too, and in the current climate it's getting bumped right to the top of the list! 7y

this was such a great read & there was so much that I loved about it. this is a funny book with lots of pop culture references & funny jokes, but I really appreciated how she was able to use them to talk about race - like why you can't touch her hair & the implementation of coded language - & gender.
I've read lots of essays collection/memoirs by comedians but this is definitely one of my favorites 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

really enjoyed reading this one, all the essays in here are great but I think her frank disssuon of mental illness & mental health - as she says, "... Mental health care can & should be taken as seriously as physical health care" was one of the things that really made the book for me

an essential read on the importance of post 2008 movements - the marches, demonstrations, occupations, & other types of political activism - in the US. this book has everything from the importance of Occupy & the rise of the Tea Party, an in depth look at various labor movements, Black Lives Matter & the militarization of police & more. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

one of those books that I believe everyone should read ?????

as Matt Haig says near the beginning of the book that "Minds are unique. They go wrong in different ways . . . . That said, if the books had to replicate our exact experience of the world to be useful, the only books worth reading would be written by ourselves."
