I tweet @Annkingman about a book rec from a Books on the Nightstand podcast episode she and @mkindness did 10 years ago - I couldn't understand the title and can't find it anywhere. (The #podcast has been off the air for a few years but it is still my fave and I have all of the back episodes in my cloud.) She kindly responds and remembers(!) the name - A Fraction of the Whole by Steve Toltz. I dig through my tbr shelves and...😂 #botns

My_novel_obsession That is one of favorite books!! 5y
bookandcat @Anovelobsession I haven't read it yet but now I must! What did you enjoy about it? 5y
AlaMich I miss that podcast! 5y

7$ and change for these two titles at a pop-up used bookstore that I spotted totally by chance. I think the #botns podcast was playing in my head when I chose these books. #Chicago peeps, the spot is Carpe Librum in the South Loop on Roosevelt.

toofondofbooks There's a LBS Masterpiece adaptation of Any Human Heart starring Matthew Macfadyen that is excellent! 6y
toofondofbooks PBS not LBS lol 6y
Lola @toofondofbooks Lol! I was wondering what LBS was 🤔 I‘ll have to check it out after I finish the book. Which will be who knows when 😛 6y

For those, like me, who miss @mkindness @Annkingman and the late great #BOTNS podcast, Michael is Roxanne Coady's guest on the latest episode of her own excellent Just the Right Book podcast. Fun conversion about summer reading. #rjjulia #justtherightbook https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/just-the-right-book-with-roxanne-coady/id118...

This was a pretty good book. I don't read much about teenagers, but this is a well-written story that explores the lives of teenagers beyond the rich, spoiled exterior. Thanks to @mkindness for the recommendation. #BOTNS

I'm pretty happy with my year-end stats.Of my 100 books, I was almost evenly split between men and women authors-49/51; 5 authors who identify as LGBTQ+; 22 authors of color-of those 11 men and 12 women. I'm sure the @bookriot #readharder challenge and the #seasonalreadingchallenge along with #Botns bingo helped but most of my choices just happened naturally as those challenges were used primarily as a way to direct my choices from my existing TBR

AThousandLives87 What's the seasonal reading challenge? 7y
Lola It's a Goodreads group I joined to help me decide what to read next-with so many choices, I often find myself unable to choose! Here are the deets: https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/21757-the-seasonal-reading-challenge 7y
Lola @AThousandLives87 I never finish-you have to read around 80 books in a 3 month season to do so. Quite a few people do, but that won't ever be me 😆I still have fun tho' and this season won the opportunity to create one of the tasks. 7y

AThousandLives87 Wow. I took a look and it seems pretty intense! I couldn't do it. 7y
Lola @AThousandLives87 It was definitely overwhelming at first. Then it grabbed me and I can't stop playing. 😂I think it appeals to my love of puzzles-I enjoy finding books that I already wanted to read to fit the tasks. 7y
BookishMarginalia @AThousandLives87 I looked at it and I couldn't do it either. Just reading the tasks gave me a headache. Way too involved and convoluted for me! @lola I admire your commitment 👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🙌🏼 7y
Megabooks 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🎊🎊 7y
Lola @BookishMarginalia Says the Organizer Extraordinaire of our fantastic @Litsy gift exchanges and creator/organizer of the #LitsyAtoZchallenge ?I will confess that the challenge requires (for me) notebooks and a separate "secret" GR group for keeping track of posts and tasks-let me tell you, it can be a great distraction from RL ?? 7y

Enjoyed this very heartfelt, tragic, and hilarious memoir. Learned of this book awhile back on an episode of Books on the Nightstand #BOTNS. Shout out to @mkindness for the recommendation! Liked listening to this on audio, read by author.

britt_brooke I liked this one! 👍🏻👍🏻 8y

This #BOTNS bingo sheet has seen better days, but it recently survived a leaky AC unit! Working on my "Set on a Ship" square and also reading Lost in Seoul for my "Travel Writing" and Sandburg's Chicago Poems for "Published 100 Years Ago." ?❤️???

Updated #botns bingo card.
Ship: My Last Continent by Midge Raymond
1-word title: Pond by Claire-Louise Bennett
Steampunk: Curtsies & Conspiracies by Gail Carriger
...library: Generation Loss by Elizabeth Hand
Biography or memoir: Shrill by Lindy West
Self-help: The Happiness Project by G. Rubin

Lindy One away from a line! Do you have something in mind for one that "everyone" has read? 8y
ReadingEnvy @Lindy no I'm not sure what to pick for that one! Any suggestions? 8y
Lindy @ReadingEnvy Maybe look through your TBR and one will jump out? If there's one that stands out as having a great deal of buzz, that should fit the category. 8y

Riveted_Reader_Melissa On Litsy The Girls, and Ready Player One seem very popular at the moment. 8y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa Otherwise maybe checkout the bestseller list or classics 'everyone' read in school... 8y
ReadingEnvy @Riveted_Reader_Melissa oh yeah The Girls would work! 8y
ReadingEnvy @Lindy my to read list is almost at 3k hahaha and I always feel everyone beats me to all the books... Really i could count any book I didn't read from the last few years 8y

Dietland made me righteously angry while making me love it and marking off a square on my Books On The Nightstand summer book bingo sheet. Such a multi-talented book! #botns #bookbingo
