Litsy recommendations have inspired me to get back to audio books after probably 15+ years. Thanks to @javadiva @Riveted_Reader_Melissa who recommended the audio book when I listed 'As You Wish' as my #booksthatmadeyousmile for the #augustphotochallenge I just finished it on Overdrive & it was amazing! The book has the pictures but the audio book has the voices so I say do both! (And yes @wonga 'Cary Elwes should read ALL the books!') 💕📚👂🏻👍😀

DebinHawaii And I understand it's a daily deal for $3.95 on Audible today! 👍 8y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa Ha! I did the same, but in reverse. I listened to the audiobook first, loved it, and then had to go track down the book for the pictures too! Now I own both! 👍 8y
Megabooks Yay! I had only listened to one audiobook before Litsy. 👍🏻 8y

DebinHawaii @Riveted_Reader_Melissa I have a feeling I will own the audiobook very shortly & have both as well! 😀 8y
DebinHawaii @Ebooksandcooks I listened to them years ago driving back & forth from PDX to SEA but then got out of the habit w/o the drives but I am finding thanks to Litsy that they are good when I am doing project work or cooking.😉 8y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @DebinHawaii It's on sale on audible today! 8y
wonga i just bought the audiobook! I'd already canceled Audible after my free trial but you don't have to have a membership to get this great deal - thanks for the heads up!!! 8y
DebinHawaii @wonga I bought it too--too good a deal to pass up! 👍 8y
Karkar Just picked it up too! I love Cary 8y
DebinHawaii @Karkar Yay! You'll love him even more after hearing him read his book ❤️❤️❤️ 8y

Loved reading this to my children. It made us all laugh. #augustofpages #day8 #booksthatmadeyousmile #bookphotochallenge

ScrappyMags Is this good for a 5 yr old? I'm the book guru for my niece. Which is funny because I have no children! 😝😝 8y
Beckys_Books @ScrappyMags 5 might be a little young. Very few pictures and it is on the longer side. 8y
ScrappyMags Thx @Beckys_Books !! Appreciate it 8y

#Day8 of the #AugustPhotoChallenge goes to Where'd You Go because it's so funny and sweet, it's one of a few #BooksThatMadeYouSmile

This book of poems is filled with sarcasm and wit that mostly went over my head as a kid. I found a copy recently and got it for my son, but I ended up reading it for myself and I could not stop laughing. It's probably the reason I grew up to be so snarky. 😂 #augustofbooks #booksthatmadeyousmile

Pamtherunner Between my sister and I, we used to check this out almost weekly from our library in elementary school. I've already bought my daughter a copy (and a couple others by him) 8y

#day8 #augustphotochallenge Books that made you smile-If you're a fan of the movie 'The Princess Bride' it's inconceivable you wouldn't smile at this book written by Wesley himself, Cary Elwes. I smiled at the stories by Elwes, memories of the cast/key players, pictures, behind scenes secrets--really everything about this book that celebrates the specialness of the film. Have the movie handy as you read! ❤️ #booksthatmadeyousmile #augustofpages

DebinHawaii And thanks to advice from @javadiva and @Riveted_Reader_Melissa I have the audiobook on hold at my local library! 😀👍 8y
wonga I agree about the audiobook - Cary Elwes should always read all the books! 8y

Day 8 of #augustphotochallenge.. This book is heartbreaking at times but it has also made me smile a lot.. I am almost half way through it and I love Lou and Will💖..#booksthatmadeyousmile..

MeganMarieWrites I think I laughed just as much as I cried during this book! 8y
Varshitha @MeganMarieWrites I haven't got to the crying part yet.. After reading all the reviews I know it will be a real tear jerker, so I am avoiding reading it in public transport 😄 8y
Books_Wine_Repeat Love this book! Read the next book too. Less of a tearjerker but still good. 8y

Day 8 #booksthatmadeyousmile #augustphotochallenge If I'm having a really bad day, I pull this book out. I obsessively collected his books in the 90s, and this was by far my favorite. It is hilarious! Measuring time in Kabuki theater compared to time in eye surgery (to be fair, the plot was really bad) and "The secrets of Japanese industry (I should have written them down)". I'm already out of my house for a few days, so no real pic. ?

cariashley Oh wow. I think I need to read this! 8y

While certainly not the last, this was the first book that I remember making me laugh out loud, pretty much every other page. I haven't read it in years, but even in high school I could pull it off my shelf and start giggling. Hope it's still in the libraries for children to find today! #augustphotochallenge #booksthatmadeyousmile

#day8 of the #augustphotochallenge and for a book that never fails to make me laugh out loud it's the wonderful Gerald Durrell and his family who remind me so much of my own. If you haven't read this please do it it sheer delight!! #booksthatmadeyousmile @TheSpinecrackersBookClub

quirkyreader I saw this on Masterpiece Theatre years ago. Now I'm excited about the new series based on the book. 8y
TheLondonBookworm @quirkyreader I think the 2005 BBC adaptation was my favourite. There was another one more recently by ITV but I didn't warm to it quite so much! 8y
RealLifeReading I loved this as a kid but haven't read it since. I'll have to reread it one day! 8y

LeahBergen I bought this at a big, charity, used book sale but haven't got around to it yet. I better move it up the pile! 8y
TheSpinecrackersBookClub Will have to add this to the stack. 8y
TheLondonBookworm @LeahBergen Please do, and then let me know how you liked it! @thespinecrackersbookclub It's actually part of the Malta trilogy so there's more where that came from 8y
quirkyreader I have read a bunch of Laurence's books. 8y
