I have had a rough time lately, mentally. I'm stressing about an upcoming certification exam. I've been sick for two weeks now with some respiratory virus. I've been getting garbage sleep. I've had to listen to deplorable people use their platform to disparage transgender, asexuals, anti-war protesters, immigrants, AmeriCorps, and people with autism. And I've spent way too much time on Facebook seeing people (or bots, who the f knows) celebrate.
This is a very accessible book for people learning about ADHD and autism. It's casual, there's a lot of Internet speak, anecdotes, and it's very supportive.
It's a validating read if you are struggling with a diagnosis or starting to see you might be neurodivergent.
That's the extent of it. There's nothing new, or actionable. It was affirming.
12 years ago today I became a Mummy. My beautiful boy has complex special needs and my world has become a whole lot smaller over the last decade. It‘s one of the reasons books are so important to me, they aren‘t just my escape from everyday life, they are my chance to go other places and have other adventures. Books keep me sane!
Biography: Women In Science Temple Grandin was written by Ruby Cardona. Published in 2019. There are currently no awards.
Based On Temple Grandin who was involved in progressing science and technology. She invented farm technology that has changed the way live stock was treated all over the world. Along side of changing the way live stock is treated, Temple also has autism. She supports autism awareness, she has impacted that community immensely.
This book does a great job with its illustrations. It provides an easy journey for children to learn about Temple's life.
The way that the text is spread out makes it easy for children to read. This would be great for any grade level as a read aloud. This would be a great book to do a flip chart activity with.
