MrBook @ValerieAndBooks No, no Lahiri for this list. She was born in London and moved to the US while a tot. She goes between the US and Italy now. 6y

SqueakyChu @Gezemice I started with Banana Yoshimoto and Haruki Murakami, but I think they cater more to an International readership. Then move on to some others. Of the more traditional authors, I began with Yasunari Kawabata and Kobo Abe. Then try some of the others in my recommended list. Read more books of the books of authors you do like. Many are very different. 6y

SqueakyChu @Riveted_Reader_Melissa I bailed on Deep River. It started with three unrelated stories (which most likely converged later), but I don‘t like that style of writing. Maybe I should give that book another chance? 6y

SqueakyChu @Gezemice Haruki Murakami has some great short stories. Banana Yoshimoto is best at novellas. However, those two have written many full length novels as well. (edited) 6y

SqueakyChu @Gezemice Norwegian Wood is a light read. It‘s a fine place to begin. Haruki Murakami is a very popular and prolific contemporary Japanese author. 6y

Librariana @MrBook - quick question for you, sir ? And I do hope I'm wording this with all the respect you deserve - Have you considered putting all of your lists under one tag? I see that you already use "Litsyloveslibraries", but I was curious about something like... "MrBooksLists" or something of the sort? They are a fabulous resource and I would love for all of us to easily access them in the future. Just a thought, of course ??? 6y

MrBook @Librariana Sir? Sir is my father ?☺️?. I've done a lot of these lists and I did only recently start using "#booklist" based on another Litten's suggestion. Hmmm ?, it's a good question. I can indeed extend it to "#MrBookLists" to make it even clearer, great suggestion ?! It'll take some time with all the back-scrolling I'll have to do ??. Might as well get cracking on it now though, I told my supe I'd get her another 100 lists ?????. 6y

Librariana @MrBook - I had a very "Whoa, dude. Mr. Turtle is my father. Name's Crush!" moment (from Finding Nemo!) when you said 'Sir' was your father ? I saw that you were using #booklist, but I thought it could be narrowed down even further since others were already using the tag. I imagine it'll be quite a bit of work on your part to back-scroll and edit, but you know us librarians and categorization... specificity ? Thank you for taking my suggestion! 6y
